You should have watched the DC for Democracy forum a few days ago. The kid spoke convincingly and persuasively, and knew his facts on key issues like schools, transit, police reform, taxes, and housing. Honestly, he seemed smarter and more knowledgeable than at least four of the other eight candidates. |
Does he think the weather is controlled by the Rothschilds? Is he stealing from nonprofits he fronts? Single issue focused on Baby Boxes? Because those are the typical DC Council members? |
When you put it that way, the bar is pretty low. |
+1 There are a bunch of people in this race who simply shouldn't be. This kid isn't one of them. |
Thanks for putting this into perspective! |
Finley doesn't own a second home. It's the home that he owns. That's fine, but he's campaigning as the only "renter" in the Ward 3 Council race. He may rent a pied a terre in DC, but he's also a homeowner, but in Maryland. That's where he's chosen to invest in a SFH, to put down his roots. Again, that's his choice, but it's also relevant as voters make their choice as to who focuses there time and full attention in the ward to understand their concerns and issues. |
Where does he work? Where do his kids attend school? |
Your anti-renter bias is showing. |
If he owns a home in another place, then he is renting a pied-a-terr in DC. That doesn't disqualify him from running, but it does sort of undermine his narrative. A lot. |
Is he promising not to go away for college? |
DC Council is a part-time job. |
He worked for the federal government and resigned to run for Council. No children. He was born and raised in dc. |
Yes he is. |
This. Speaking of undermining, Mr. Finley also wants to gut single family zoning in Ward 3. Yet he bought a single family home in a suburban community in Maryland. That sort of undermines his narrative, too. |

The Post did a story on the high schooler today. He sounds like a pretty impressive kid!
