I watched some of the DC for Democracy Ward 3 Candidate Forum last night and he gave a good accounting for himself. He was knowledgeable and had well-thought out positions on most of the issues. Good for him!

At least his principal residence is likely in DC. Unlike the questions about another Ward 3 Council candidate.

Come on PP. Name this candidate and explain what you are insinuating.

There is a particular CP resident who used to be on the ANC who is obsessed with where a particular ANC 3C commissioner lives as well as the guy who heads the CP Smart Growth group and she spends a lot of time trying to smear both of them on DCUM. Guessing she's been blocked over the years so is trying to steer clear of that happening again by not naming him.

Oh for Pete's sake. Stop dancing around this. Now you've made it clear that the candidate is Beau Finley. Can you clarify what the actual allegation against him is, and whether there is any reason to believe it is true?

He owns a second home on the Chesapeake. The stalker insists it's his primary residence.

Finley doesn't own a second home. It's the home that he owns. That's fine, but he's campaigning as the only "renter" in the Ward 3 Council race. He may rent a pied a terre in DC, but he's also a homeowner, but in Maryland. That's where he's chosen to invest in a SFH, to put down his roots. Again, that's his choice, but it's also relevant as voters make their choice as to who focuses there time and full attention in the ward to understand their concerns and issues.

Isn't Ben Bergman also a renter? At the last debate he said he lives in an apartment building. I guess it could be coop/condo?

Well, the child who is running isn't old enough to rent and has never had a real job so can't be a home owner either. That doesn't seems to be bothering people.

Bergman owns his condo unit. (If we want to be technically, the deed is probably collateral for a bank) BTW, all these records are public. The kid's parents also own their rowhome.

And I don't see why the government needs to mandate zoning to the degree it does. Seems like a waste of everyone's time. The current zoning rules aren't even historical and seem pretty silly. I mean our house would be illegal to build today, but is now historically protected. It is too big for the lot in sqft, but too narrow for the lot, and doesn't have the government-mandated parking. What gives?

Is the kid a republican? If so, he'll get a vote from moi. We need some counter-balance on the Council.

OMG! Really? You vote along party lines without knowing anything about a candidate? No wonder our government is such a mess

I absolutely think there is benefit to having someone with a longer term perspective on a council of old people.

Mr. Finley also wants to gut single family zoning in Ward 3.

Got any proof of that?

Henry is the only candidate who has committed to that so he's totally getting my vote. We need and can take more density.
