MCPS ALWAYS attempts to hide serious crimes, including rape. This is not the first, nor will it be the last.
Please impress on your child that the first thing they need to do is call 911 or call you and you call 911. MCPS need not be involved until the police and ambulance show up, because they WILL try to interview the accused, the victim, handle evidence, in a completely unprofessional manner, with the consequences that evidence is contaminated or lost, and everyone involved is confused and care/police investigation are delayed. Parents, please stay involved at the high school level with your PTA - the PTA, as an organized group, does have more power than individual parents, and can place pressure on the administration to implement more safety checks in bathrooms and locker rooms (a previous sodomy/rape at another MCPS high school was in a locker room), close off bathrooms or have students wait outside for their turn, etc... It's sickening we need to talk about this, but this is where we're at. |
| The school called 911. A community engagement officer was not available - SEND REGULAR COPS! Why on earth did it take 90 minutes to respond? Incompetent policing. |
If a regular patrol officer responded in a timely way, there wouldn’t be an opportunity to stoke the SRO flames again. You really think cops give a damn if an assaulted kid has to wait if the wait means they can make a point to stick it to Will Jawando? |
shift change over. Yes really…… |
|
The crime scene was not shut down for 90 minutes. MCPS also has a bad reputation for interviewing the victim and witnesses before the police.
A defense attorney will have lots to work with on this case. |
There's a lot of space between "sexual assault" and "rape". Language matters. |
| If you have ever worked in an MCPS high school -- as I have for 21 years -- you would be in shock about the things that are never reported and/or covered up. Each day I leave that building in utter disbelief. 4 more years til retirement, if I make it out alive. |
Because parents are more upset over masking than violence. Parents wanted the SRO's gone. Parents don't want police presence. MCPS doesn't have enough staff and they have rules that don't allow bathroom or locker room or other area monitoring. So, why aren't MCPS and parents doing more to keep kids safe? Where is MCCPTA? |
Virtual Academy is not for violent students. They need to be placed in Noyes. |
So, you are also covering things up. |
Even if it was inappropriate touching, that is unacceptable. A sexual assault is a rape. |
Metal detectors as well. And, enough with the restorative justice. Open up a school for these kids to send them to. |
This is tiresome. Rest assured MCPD will still do their jobs because we have a very good police force. Yes, many are tired of Jawando’s unnecessary attacks on their honor and professionalism. That doesn’t change the fact they’ll do their jobs. Yes, the police care. If you don’t believe that, perhaps it’s time for you to do a ride-along or enroll in the citizen’s academy. Then you can meet some actual officers instead of listening to whatever social media decides to spew. |
Do you understand a girl was assaulted (or raped) at a high school? Do you understand police did not do their job as this was covered up? Do you understand that the police aren't there within 5 minutes because MCPS didn't report it? MCPD cannot do their job if they don't have staff in the schools who work outside of MCPS to do what is best for our kids. Imagine the horror of those parents? Everyone here screams mental health issues. Now this is truly a mental health issue as this child will have long term issues because she was attacked at school and no one, NO ONE protected her. So, when you are screaming mental health and no SRO's because your Larlina cannot be at home with you as your homelife sucks, think of what has been done to this child. |
This is typical for MCPS. Cover up and hope it doesn't hit the press. Kudos to the reporter for breaking this story. Remember the Rockville HS alleged gang rape case a few years ago? The public only learned about it because MCPD (police) issued a press release about it. MCPS was silent about it, even to parents at that HS. If your child was at Rockville, wouldn't you want to know a gang rape may have taken place there earlier that week? This is one of the reasons we moved to private last year. |
