Academically she’s still engaged (5 core APs) but she’s lost interest in anything else but babysitting to make money for college. She’s also pulling away from us. It’s concerning.

Google “soiling the nest”. This is normal and even healthy as kids adjust to the realities of moving out next summer.

Yes. This is normal.

Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful.

Mine's not stressed at all, but she's been fortunate to have been accepted at a bunch of schools already. There are some more RD decisions (including a few reaches) still outstanding, but she'd be very happy to attend a few of the schools that already accepted her. Mostly waiting on the other decisions so we can compare costs. In the meantime, she's taking a slightly less challenging courseload than last year and has dropped one extracurricular that was causing lots of stress. Like a PP's daughter, mine is babysitting a lot to save money for college. Right now I think that's a better use of her time than the EC that was giving her anxiety.

Mine started off with 3 rejections, granted from reaches. Still, it knocked her a bit back to not even get a deferral. But, just got into umd honors. And, got nominated for special scholarships at 2 safeties (neither has officially accepted her, but this puts her at ease). Now, some good feedback from another school.

I guess, just keep reassuring her that she's good enough, she's smart enough, and gosh darn it people like her! Good things will come. Talk up the safeties just in case.

Hang in there!

It is a good feeling.

My senior is not too stressed. Waiting on RD to see what his options are and will pretty much be happy with any of the schools that come back with an offer of acceptance.

Not too stressed. UMD Hons was the only safety and one of his 6 top choices. Everything else is a reach. Got into UMD for CS and is chilled. What will happen will happen. My kiddo is going to college. Oh, only applied to 6 schools. 3 EA, 3 RD. My kiddo was always going to college because we had considered Montgomery College as a valid route. Kid is in magnet, we are full pay, pandemic rages on. 2 deferrals BTW.

Not very stressed. He had mid-range stats and targeted schools well. 8 acceptances, 1 reject, still waiting on VT. All EA.

Mine is at TJ and boy, there are so many strategies at college application, in hindsight. Maybe we should have spent the money and hired a private counselor!

Strategies?

Mine is lucky getting into ED, so pretty relaxed and enjoying the last semester of high school.

Yale EA.

Not stressed at all.

DC was given the very good advice to apply to a very wide range of schools, including safeties/low targets with very early EA decision dates. Was rejected from (reach) ED but was in to three schools by end of December and two more by February 1.

So, isn't particularly stressed about college (even though there are still several they are waiting to hear from)....BUT is very much sick of high school... Not sure if it's the pandemic or the fact that others are stressed about college but there does seem to be a lot of drama/exclusive behavior among their friend group, which is a bummer and a crappy way to close out high school. So, some stress about that.

Nice of you to rub it in. Kind of a troll-y thing to do.
