I’ve always been curious where this troll lives……

... must be brain dead, to call this "normal".

This has been our normal for two years now. You must be brain dead not to understand that. Your failure to plan does not make it a crisis for the school system.

What failure to plan? My kids are in the Virtual Academy I'm just responding to schools "operating as normal". Which patently most are not.

To the crowd trying to rally behind: these are probably fake cases… you realize mcps contacts the principals to find out how many students are in quarantine, right? How stupid are you? It’s more likely people are underreporting bc they don’t know how or because it’s only offered in two languages or because they are selfish and want their kids at school. The things you all rally behind. The other one I like going around is : md never set the 5% threshold for virtual. You’re correct. There is no threshold; they can go virtual at any time. Thanks for pointing that out!

NP. My plan was for my kids to attend school in-person under the metrics that MCPS originally communicated. Those metrics have been thrown out the window. My child’s school is open today with a 14-day positivity rate above 6% — which was not part of MCPS’s plan just 2 days ago. Not one bit of this shifting landscape is to to my planning or lack thereof.

I'm sure there are a few but you really think that many parents are calling in fake cases? Be real.

MCPS has constantly changed the plan. They are going to do what ever they can to keep schools in person as parents want.

Good. That’s what democracy is - bending to public opinion.

So basically to respond to OP and not keep derailing let's shut down the thread till 7 PM as nobody knows anything till then.

You mean trolls like you? You demanded in person. You are getting what you demanded. Stop complain and get off DCUM to make a back up plan for if schools shut down.

It’s sweet of you to worry, but I have refundable flights booked for a great destination next week, so I am ready for a pivot to virtual.

OP here. It is amazing and depressing how quickly this thread derailed. The people that want to debate and insult each other have about a dozen other threads to do that in. Sigh.

I know there will not be anything broadly communicated until 7:00. But often individual schools hear something, or some teacher/staff is willing to share some early heads up communications.

I guess I'll just be patient.

Do us all a favor and go and not come back. Rich and entitled. The same folks complaining about child care.
