| “The problem we have is that voting security doesn’t matter until something happens, and then after something happens, there’s a group of people who don’t want the security, because whatever happened, happened in their favor,” said Bruce Schneier, a cybersecurity expert at Harvard’s Berkman Center who has written frequently about the security vulnerabilities of U.S. election systems. |
| well, the trump peeps shrugged about 2016 |
This was perhaps the best run election in US history. |
+1 per Trump's cybersecurity expert. Of course, Trump fired him (via twitter) for not backing his lies. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/trump-fires-head-u-s-election-cybersecurity-after-he-debunked-n1248063 |

This is another, though older, example of Meadows circulating crazy conspiracy theories about the election.
Meadows pushed Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to investigate "ItalyGate". For those not up-to-date on right-wing lunacy: https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/italygate-michele-edwards-meadows-trump/2021/06/19/2f6314d2-d05f-11eb-8014-2f3926ca24d9_story.html
...
Emails from Meadows to Rosen showing his interest in ItalyGate were released last Summer by Congress. |

GOP, party of crackpots and crackpot theories.
And rubes give them money and the right wing echo chamber repeats the lies and crazy. |
And the corporate media has pretty much let the story drop. |
| It’s not that the media has let the story drop. It’s that people are not interested. I tried to make this point in a different thread. Breadcrumbing this conspiracy isn’t working because people are exhausted. They want closure. What’s another story about bad behavior when there are no consequences? It’s conditioning people to accept it, is what it is. |
Most people shrugged then. |
| I guess the 1/6 Commission will need to hold prime time streamed/televised hearings to tell the story. No one is going to read the 10,000 word report with 100,000 sources and appendices. |
This 100%. They are power hungry men and woman with outsize egos. They believe they are justified because they have such a high opinion of themselves and believe they are better than others. They are extremely dangerous and the worst thing we can do is think and act as if they are not. That is how people like that manipulate and take power. People who are not that way underestimate how craven and unethical they are. Never underestimate just how narcissistic or sociopathic power hungry people can be. |
| And amazingly, there are people in this forum who defend them and will continue to support them politically. |
They plan to starting next year. |
But the power hungry clever ones don’t really care about abortion rights or health care, right? It’s a larger game, and it’s money. |
