The entire DA/ECNL discussion is just silly and truly an example of parents dealig with their own issues whether that is living through their kids or tryig to gain status through their kids.
Am I the only one who feels that their are too many leagues and too much travel. Some kids travel more for youth soccer than they would as a D3 player. Between southern Jersey/Philly and NoVA, there are at least 20 clubs that constantly produce quality teams. Arlington, Baltimore Celtic, Bethesda, BRYC, DC Stoddert, FC Bucks, FCV, Frederick, Herndon, Loundon, MUFC, McLean, Pipeline, Potomac, SAC, and WS. There are also other smaller clubs with less consistent talents accross the club that also produce very competitive teams. Why can't we reject the control and money grab. Encourage clubs to play regionally. If you want to travel, then go to a major tournament 2-4x a year but you can find enough competitive teams within a two hour drive. I just don't feel there is a need to travel up and down I95. |
Amen. Preach on!! |
I hope you don't work for Spirit. Email offers have gone to some players. They say You received a roster spot and will get the payment stuff this week. Don't know who you are, but you are a jerk for lieing to other parents trying to figure this out. DD is doing ECNL, so we have no agenda. Unlike you apparently! |
^^^It looked like they were analyzing all 05 and 06 girls at ID session yesterday carefully and were taking notes, so they obviously have to fill some roster spots. I’m sure not all are taken yet, but probably some are.
Good luck to everyone and hopefully the stress of tryout season will be over soon. It sure brings out the worst in everyone-players and parents! |
It is spelled Loudoun not Loundon |
All the person is saying is that all roster spots are not yet filled so it is worth your time to go to the ID session. |
^^ the op is correct. this old thread is where first "offers" went out -- read here:
http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/330/672072.page i saw the update email too before the 22nd and it is pretty clear that some girls had offers even though they hadn't paid yet and no contract signed. wasn't at ID session but guessing this is someone connected to spirit - they probably just told parents at the session that "rosters aren't set" technically true but we know someone with an email offer too, so some of the roster is set |
+1 early offers went as far back as in Feb. but rosters are not full or there would have been no need for ID session. |
I am agreeing with you but just because all spots are not yet filled does not invalidate the early offers. There was also some very good talent on the field last night to indicate that it is also important to be patient. |
Has Arlington announced who the DA coaches are yet? |
Congratulations on trying to mislead everyone that offers were not "actual." No one said rosters were fully locked up. If you knew anything about travel soccer and how reputable clubs work with their offers, you would not have tried to mislead parents on this board. You should be ashamed especially if you read the same emails I did or are connected to the club. From the people that I spoke with and who went, my impression is that they were well more than five or six spots open on the 05 and 06 new teams. |
Was this you too? Nice effort to misrepresent the state of affairs at Washington Spirit. |
+1 Offers have been made, but yes open slots on roster, I do agree. There is another poster on here who was probably paid by the club to come on this board and tell parents that: no offers have been made! This is how it worked last year, and this poster is a true louse. If you know anyone who received an email offer, ask them if you can read the emails and you decide. We have seen verbal offers at the field for travel spots in the past, but according to this louse, those wouldn't be actual offers either. When DC Stod. posts their teams on the website with the tryout numbers below each, those aren't actual offers either. What a louse with an agenda. |
The Spirit (and really any team out there in ECNL/DA) certainly made some offers early when/if they saw outstanding talent at their sessions. As they have done more sessions, I am sure more offers have gone out. That being said, if as a previous poster said...."Alex Morgan" shows up next week, they will make room for that player. |
How about any offers? |
