Anyone do Spirit ID session today? Do you do more than one session, or just one?

learn something every day i guess. my dd does not do DA or super y

Spirit DA players are not doing super y this summer. Many of the super y from the past few summers did make their da last summer, but once in DA super y is off limits. They did drop u18/19 super y this year in favour of 18+ training.

Anyone hear anything yet from ID session? My DD went to last one on 2/10 and is an 06. Just wondering what their timeframe was for notification.

We totally forgot to ask about what the process is, but I never got the sense there would be any notifications coming, did you? Seemed more to just be taking a look then conducting tryouts, but I could be wrong there.

Another parent with an older DD said the coach had mentioned that parents would get an email after these ID sessions to invite them to come back to another practice in April-I wasn't there so don't know firsthand. They do have player contact info as you had to register before the session.
Maybe they will have more ID sessions in April since not many were at these winter sessions.

Just received this email from WS:

We wanted to send a thank you for registering your player for our ID Sessions and interest in the Washington Spirit Academy. The staff was impressed with all of the players efforts and our excitement grows daily with where the Development Academy platform and our training environment will grow in the future.

We also wanted to provide some information about our process and timeline. We hope that it is helpful:

The DA operates on a 10-month season, so our calendar starts in August and continues through the end of June at the annual San Diego Showcase. (We provide a month break in winter). We have gone through our initial evaluations and will be sending a message to players about our interest in them joining the DA in the fall. The message will be sent within the next 24 hours.

Official offers will be sent in April.

We will hold weekly training sessions with the future DA players to acclimate them to the training environment beginning in May. We understand that some current club / odp commitments will go through the summer. We will manage this with each player.

If you do not receive a message, this does not mean your player will not be selected, we may just need another look. We will hold 2 more ID sessions in April and finalize our selection process. If an offer is not given at that time, our SYL program is also an option, see below.

Super Y League:

Another way to be involved with the club is by joining our summer SYL program. The pathway that the club has created ends with the Pro Team, and at this time starts with SYL. A large percentage of our current DA players in VA & MD were players that started their relationship with the Spirit as SYL players. Below is a link with information and Ana Mayoral, who manages programming, is CC'd above in the event there are any questions. We will continue to use SYL training and matches as a resource to identify players for the DA.

From that email, it sounds like no offers until after April sessions, and some but not all will get an email now inviting their DDs to come to those, basically signalling? that WS is very interested.

If they are certain that they really want a kid they will offer but that will be the exception and apply to only a couple of kids. Also, if you are coming from one of the competing DA's none of the clubs will make "poaching" offers until April in order to give the home club an opportunity at right of first refusal.
