Looks like a new Gaza war has started

In other words, there are doctors in Hamas. We know.

I’ve said this from the beginning. Alot of the men in Hamas are doctors or engineers- the elite of Gaza. Surprising as that may sound

They are smarter than the Israeli govt these days and it shows

Yes. Terrorists can often be wealthy and smart. That’s not news. UBL came from a wealthy Saudi family.

Well maybe if Hamas collapsed the building and trapped these people it would be close to a whatabout. Israelis are targeting civilians blowing up hospitals, churches, school, aid supplies, etc. They have leveled most of north Gaza trapping civilians under the rumble. What religion would condone such violence against helpless civilians?

Israel is setting the rules that civilians are fair game.

They’ve been leveling Palestinian homes long before October.

I don’t understand the outrage that their adversary is following their lead.

10/7 didn’t happen then?

Huh? Nice strawman.

I just pointed out that Israel frequently bombed Palestinian homes BEFORE October 7th.

Israel has been killing Palestinian civilians for decades. And they’re shocked that Hamas is fighting back the same way? Cry me a river.

That's some grade A ugliness right there.

It’s gross to pretend that terrorism is only terrible when it happens to people like you. Israel has already slaughtered more children than the number of people Hamas killed. I refuse to pretend that Israeli terrorism is okay, while condemning Hamas terrorism.

THAT is the real ugliness.

You’re okay with genocide.

You’re okay with ethnic cleansing.

As long as it only happens to people different than you.

No one has said that. You’re the one saying “cry me a river” when a rocket hits an apartment building in Israel.

A rocket hit an apartment building and nobody was hurt. This is blowing up as evidence of Hamas cruelty while Israel bombs and kills countless children in Gaza.

Cry me a f***ing river over the damaged apartment.

Actually, 3 civilians were injured this morning by a missile fired from Gaza and the top floor of an apartment building was destroyed.

Three people were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. I’m glad they’re all okay.

Meanwhile, in Gaza children are being amputated without anesthesia. Israel’s siege is collective punishment designed to inflict maximum suffering.

While we’re condemning acts of terror, how do you feel about Israel blocking medicine from entering Gaza?

Israel is not currently blocking aid into Gaza. Red Cross Medics and surgeons arrived just today into Gaza.

Israelis have a higher chance of being killed and burned alive by their own government.

https://thegrayzone.com/2023/10/27/israels-military-shelled-burning-tanks-helicopters/

Tuval Escapa, a member of the security team for Kibbutz Be’eri, set up a hotline to coordinate between kibbutz residents and the Israeli army. He told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz that as desperation began to set in, “the commanders in the field made difficult decisions – including shelling houses on their occupants in order to eliminate the terrorists along with the hostages.”

An Israeli woman named Yasmin Porat confirmed in an interview with Israel Radio that the military “undoubtedly” killed numerous Israeli noncombatants during gun battles with Hamas militants on October 7. “They eliminated everyone, including the hostages,” she stated, referring to Israeli special forces.

According to Haaretz, the army was only able to restore control over Be’eri after admittedly “shelling” the homes of Israelis who had been taken captive. “The price was terrible: at least 112 Be’eri residents were killed,” the paper chronicled. “Others were kidnapped. Yesterday, 11 days after the massacre, the bodies of a mother and her son were discovered in one of the destroyed houses. It is believed that more bodies are still lying in the rubble.”

Much of the shelling in Be’eri was carried out by Israeli tank crews. As a reporter for the Israeli Foreign Ministry-sponsored outlet i24 noted during a visit to Be’eri, “small and quaint homes [were] bombarded or destroyed,” and “well-maintained lawns [were] ripped up by the tracks of an armored vehicle, perhaps a tank.”

Apache attack helicopters also figured heavily in the Israeli military’s response on October 7. Pilots have told Israeli media they scrambled to the battlefield without any intelligence, unable to differentiate between Hamas fighters and Israeli noncombatants, and yet determined to “empty the belly” of their war machines. “I find myself in a dilemma as to what to shoot at, because there are so many of them,” one Apache pilot commented.

Israel is the one that actually uses human shields and has it as a directive. It’s called the Hannibal Directive

Are you seriously denying that Hamas uses human shields?

https://stratcomcoe.org/cuploads/pfiles/hamas_human_shields.pdf

The Hannibal Directive is about the kidnapping of IDF soldiers and what to do if they’re kidnapped.

Who is there to fact-check IDF?

Why do IDF press releases count for news?

Unlike Gaza, there are independent news agencies and other agencies that are present in Israel to fact check statements and numbers.
And, if you doubt that Hamas intentionally uses hospitals and schools as places to launch attacks and store munitions, you are uninformed.

The United Nations has found troves of rockets hidden in three of its schools since the conflict began. “We condemn the group or groups who endangered civilians by placing these munitions in our school,” Chris Gunness, spokesman for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, said in statement published Wednesday by the Times of Israel. “This is yet another flagrant violation of the neutrality of our premises. We call on all the warring parties to respect the inviolability of U.N. property.”

Earlier this month, the United Nations also found rockets piled inside one of its vacant schools — near other schools used to accommodate displaced people.
The international organization also found 20 additional rockets at another of its schools during an inspection, calling it one more “flagrant violation of the inviolability” of the premises.

For years, Hamas has “planned carefully for a major Israeli invasion,” according to a Washington Institute for Near East Policy report. In addition to an elaborate tunnel system, there was the “integral use of civilians and civilian facilities as cover for its military activity; schools, mosques, hospitals, and civilian housing became weapons storage facilities, Hamas headquarters, and fighting positions … IDF imagery and combat intelligence revealed extensive use of civilian facilities.”

Hamas Is Known To Use Hospitals, Ambulances, Mosques, Churches And Schools As Shields For Its Military Activity
Testimony from previous rounds of fighting in Gaza has indicated that Hamas conducts military activity from within hospitals, mosques, churches and schools, or from areas adjacent to them. This, in order to prevent Hamas' leaders, operatives and weapons from being targeted by Israel, and sometimes also in order to deliberately provoke Israel into attacking these sites.

Can you please cite some sources and pictures of all these “amenities?” If jihadists burned the water park down how is it still on your list?

Equestrian club: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faisal_Equestrian_Club

Gaza Mall: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_Mall

Seriously?

That link to the water park in Gaza lists 3 water slides — for 2 million people. That would be if my neighborhood pool was for all of DC and NOVA.

It’s insane that you think this proves anything except they already lived very difficult lives.

That wasn’t at all the point I was making, but congrats for missing it entirely.

My point was about Hamas not being these poor freedom fighters and Gaza being a place where nothing gets in.

Hamas could have used these materials to build up infrastructure. They did not.

So they should have been smuggling in items to build infrastructure for
millions? Do you even hear yourself? It’s like asking why didn’t the American slaves use their tools to build their own infrastructure? They didn’t. But occasionally they used their farm implements to ride up and kill their masters.

You’re comparing Hamas to American slaves??! Listen to yourself.

Hamas is an enormously wealthy organization funded by Iran with leaders living in Qatar. They are NOTHING like American slaves.

Yes, that was an appalling comparison, especially because it almost certainly came from a wealthy white person.

The way the Israeli military treats Palestinian civilians is the entire reason was elected in the first place.

Israel has been killing Palestinian civilians longer than most of us have been alive.

Do you really want to go back in history to the beginning of all of this?

Or would you rather continue to justify why Hamas is morally superior?

I don’t think Hamas is morally superior.

I think Hamas (or something like it) was inevitable given Israel’s treatment of Gaza. The Israeli military behaved like terrorists towards Palestinians. Of course, the Palestinians responded by electing their own terrorists to represent them and now they can’t get them out of power (much like Israelis can’t get Netanyahu out.)

This is a showdown between a terrorist state and a terrorist organization. As always, civilians are the ones who suffer.

So what explains the Palestinian terrorism before the state of Israel even existed?

What explains the Grand Mufti's virulent anti-Semitism and support of Hitler during WWII?

I'm trying to decide whether your history or your logic is more flawed.

Let’s go to the videotape …

People from Eastern Europe and other far flung regions of the world organizing to dispossess the indigenous people of their land through tactics that can only be characterized as the advent of modern day terrorism, including brutal massacres of entire villages.

Blowing up hotels to coerce one-sided political action.

Hijacking airliners to coerce one-sided political action.

Extra-judicial executions of foreign officials and journalists to intimidate the press and control the narrative.

Establishing a cottage industry built around distorting facts and circumstances on the ground to cultivate that never-ending narrative of victimhood, and ensuring a steady flow of foreign military and financial aid in exchange for hegemony.

75 years of dehumanizing the indigenous population, along with a 60:1 casualty rate over that period.

At least 60 Palestinian deaths or serious injuries for every Israeli death or serious injury.

Tl/dr: Acquaint yourself with actual historical information about the incidents surrounding and leading to the formation of the State of Israel before you embarrass yourself trying to convince others that the indigenous people initiated the conflict.

Jesus Christ, we know what’s happening in Gaza. There is literally no shortage of news about it. Every day, front page of the Post, talking about the humanitarian crisis. Stop being disingenuous. We know.

Have barely heard a peep lately about what is to become of the hostages Hamas took, no one seems to care about them because talking about them doesn’t advance anyone’s agenda. I don’t think bombing the shit out of Gaza made them any safer.
