Josh Duggar arrested and in federal custody

Apparently the culprit, according to the defense, could be "someone in Paris" who remotely hacked and partitioned the PC. And somehow caused the password to the partition to be the same as Josh Duggar's bank account. Darn those French hackers.

Well as a French person, I'm miffed. Why did they pick on us? Is it the old-fashioned British idea that French people are more sexual or some crap like that?

They're going to blame it on Hilary Clinton's child sex ring in a pizza basement.

In my opinion, yes. The defense went to trial to try to defend the indefensible and the irrefutable. Juries are weird, and sometimes make illogical decisions, but I have faith they’ll see RouterGate for what it is.

Jim Bob has previously blamed Biden.

I guess a lifetime of doing this and getting away with it has made him falsely confident he’ll get another slap on the wrist.

From what I understand, a plea deal was offered and he declined it.

I said this upthread, but there are good reasons for him to go to trial, even if the evidence is as bad as it sounds for him. Juries can be a crapshoot. It only takes one crackpot juror to dig in their heels for some reason and refuse to convict. When I lived in Houston in the '90's my friend's ex-boyfriend was robbed of his wallet, shot, and killed. He was a County prosecutor. He was also Jewish. One juror refused to convict because the victim was Jewish. It was a shocking story. The defendant was re-tried and convicted the second time.

Or something crazy happens at trial and you get a mistrial. Or something crazy happens and you have grounds for an appeal. You take a plea and you cut off all of those possibilities. And all the while you are tying up the prosecutors with re-trials, appeals, etc., you can ask for a plea deal again.

I mean technically yeah this could happen. The banking password wasn't complex and if they just went with the password that was the easiest and least complex to get then sure, they could have done it. But the prosecution doesn't actually have to make a case for that or even prove that. They just need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that all the evidence shows that the person is guilty of the crime of which they are accused. The defense would have had to make a much stronger case on this issue for me to be persuaded. Like there was a bust of a known ring of hackers who downloaded this kind of material and they were discovered to have been involved in such activities at the same time that the this happened on Josh's computer and so on. I have to wonder if the defense tried to get better expert witnesses and just couldn't find anyone who was willing to testify under oath regarding alternate theories or if they found that most of the experts said yeah, he is pretty much the one who did this ...

It wasn’t Biden’s DOJ who raided the car lot, Jim Bob.

So Jill never testified.

Do we expect a verdict today?

Closing arguments start today so probably not.

But the jury will begin deliberations today right? I think we'll know today if he's guilty or not.

I think it depends on how late closing arguments go. I doubt the defense will take long, since they don't have much of a case, but the prosecution may be thorough to make sure the jury isn't distracted by all of the defense's speculation, and are following the clear timeline of "Josh's text messages put him behind the computer whenever CSAM is being downloaded."

Amy Duggar tweeted this morning "JUSTICE FOR THE CHILDREN." And Derick tweeted "Praying for justice."

I think closing arguments are limited to 30min each. Unless there are large gaps of time, it seems as if they could be deliberating by mid-afternoon.

Sadly, I would not be surprised by a hung jury or even an acquittal. Many people in Arkansas are predisposed to like the Duggars since they are local celebrities and generally have a wholesome image. It's really hard to mentally accept the fact that someone you think you know could do something so horrible.
There's also probably not a high level of technological sophistication, so who knows how they will interpret the evidence?

Jury is in deliberation.
