DP. Is this a joke, or are you for real? It sounds like you’re saying it’s fine if rich, feckless twits (edited) get into Harvard because they can buy tutors. But the smart “poors” should “prove it” by taking the bus to the library. Ugh.... |
But all of these, with the possible exception of the snack, only confer an advantage to those who can benefit from the accommodation. There are a ton of kids who would do better (or at least feel less anxious) with extra time. |
DP: you are crazy. Someone here is obsessed with tutors...maybe get one for yourself and start making some sense? ![]() |
Well sure. Why don’t we do away with grades, while we’re at it, and then everybody will feel super-comfortable. There needs to be SOME way to screen kids. Kids with lower processing speeds need more time, so give those kids time and crack down on the cheaters. That’s a lot simpler than what you’re proposing, it meets the needs of the kids who need time accommodations, and it doesn’t make testing totally meaningless. |
Buh bye, troll. |
Both Loughlin daughters have dropped out of USC. |
Khan Academy SAT prep does not address test-taking strategies, which has been shown to have a significant effect on scores. I don't believe that you believe what you are saying, but I do think it makes you feel better. However, most students would benefit from more than Khan. Sorry. |
I wonder what Morie Tobin got for a deal when he dropped the names. How many names were not given up and are being protected. |
List leaves out the accommodation of circling answers in the test booklet instead of filling out the Scantron. My OCD kid got this because of his need to fill in circles absolutely perfectly. Twenty-four hours would not be enough for him to take this test without this accommodation (given without extra time). |
My kids go to Buckley in Los Angeles. Interesting to read one of our guidance counsellors was involved and questioned things (ie: why the water polo recruitment when we don’t even have a water polo team!!!)

50 names were given up. Probably thousands more names out there and colleges. Sick. Sick. Sick. |
Target just dropped Mossimo like a potato. Mossimo’s licensing deal with Target was renewed several times over the years, but the retailer said it no longer has any association with the fashion designer. https://www.foxbusiness.com/retail/target-distances-itself-from-mossimo-label-amid-college-admissions-scandal |
I was just at Buckley now and the new truck tried to go in the car pool lane lol
“In late 2017, a guidance counselor at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, a suburb of Los Angeles, wanted to know why USC was recruiting Matteo Sloane as a water polo player. The high school didn’t even have a team. The boy’s father, Devin Sloane, founder and chief executive of aquaTECTURE, a Los Angeles-based company that invests in water-treatment systems, had hired Mr. Singer to bribe a USC official to identify Matteo as an athletic recruit, the affidavit said. One of the campus officials accused of working with Mr. Singer, Donna Heinel, then the senior associate athletic director at USC, sent an email to the university’s admissions director to explain the discrepancy, according to the affidavit. “He plays at LA Water Polo Club during the year and travels international during the summer with the youth junior team in Italy,” she wrote on April 11. “I don’t know if the people at [his high school] are unaware.” She added, “He is small but he has a long torso but short strong legs plus he is fast which helps him win the draws to start play after goals are scored.” USC’s admissions director, not named in court papers, agreed to pass that information along. “They seemed unusually skeptical,” the admissions official said of the Buckley School. A spokeswoman for Buckley didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.” |
*news truck, not new truck! |
So Morrie Tobin was caught up in fraud with SEC so gave up info that his kid got into Yale through fraud. Wow. Is everything just revolving around fraud. |
