I love 10:31's advice to the OP. It's caring, reasonable, and what we would all want to say to a sister or friend.

I'm a little afraid we're all being had.

Okay. This thread has been very entertaining -- obviously -- since it is almost 100 pages long. DCUM owes the OP something for all this entertainment. Here' my suggestion:
