Why did Overton leave Freedom in the first place?

Rumor is that he got caught using Freedom fields and equipment for his private business.

They should totally sue! Lets get that discovery rolling!

So FCPS and Hayfield hired him anyway even after those accusations? Geez

Let’s be honest he left because he got hired at another school, people do that all the time. He was not fired from Freedom as some want to insensate. He left after coaching girls basketball

They didn’t say anything about the coach cheating.

Oh honey. The infraction was "proselytizing". That means THE COACH RECRUITED players. That's against the rules. Its cheating. The coach cheated. How can you not follow this logic?

No it doesn’t.

“No it doesn’t” what? Mean he recruited? If not him directly, then someone, because what else do you think that rule means? And as head coach, the buck stops with him as far as his players are concerned. No way did that number of kids and their families up and move (assuming there is in fact no merit to the ineligibility claims) to follow him on a whim, and he never asked questions or knew anything about it but just pushed out some 15 former Hayfield players to make room.

Doesn’t mean the coach did anything. And they didn’t even say what brought them to that conclusion.

You are ridiculous. They've been caught red handed and you Overton fans will deflect and dodge and ignore the truth.

A lot to go back and read, so can someone help me out, please. Without actual evidence VHSL says he violated a clause not by proof but insinuation.
14 kids left Freedom and are on Hayfield roster, well if there allegedly 50 on Freedom what happened to rest of kids?
The local press has him in all newspapers as being hired to Hayfield but yet he has to take blame for trying to better himself?
15 kids no longer playin this roster ?Didn’t say if they were returning kids or first year kids or what’s their reasoning for not playin, but in that 15 how many kids transferred to other schools, and did they transfer to non powerhouse schools like Justice or Edison or did the transfer to better programs such as West Springfield and South County?

I can undeStand some things but it seems there is no real proof because if it was had then I’m sure it would have been stated. It always just states they feel he violated the spirit of how they view it. Thanks for reading, if you did.

Not sure he'll be either celebrated or tolerated after this disaster at Hayfield.

Yeah VHSL is saying a rules were violated and quote the policy, but not specifically who or how.

It’s almost like they are just saying a bunch of kids moved into the Hayfield school zone so you must’ve cheated and then have nerve to ban them from the playoffs.

If VHSL identified specific kids you'd be crying even harder.

The VHSL policy is to communicate only with schools so up to schools what they want to share. That school does not share info does not mean does not exist, but bottom line is 97 pages in, yes, you are late to the party so would recommend just read a Wash Post article to catch up, but it’s now all old news.

The VHSL does specifically identify to the school. The school knows all specifics they just don’t like outcome.

Generally coaches don't depart on a positive note from a winning program with more upside potential. He certainly didn’t move for the commute or pay increase. There’s more to the story that was likely kept under wraps.

Sue them for doing their job properly? Interesting take.

The proper thing for them to do is enforce the system of white supremacy.
