Looks like a new Gaza war has started

Ritchie Torres.... Democrat.

The organizers of the anti-Israel hate rally against me were proudly chanting: “resistance is justified.”

Let that sink in for a moment.
These people were not protesting Hamas for butchering Israeli babies—which, to them, is “justified” as “resistance—but instead were protesting me for protesting Hamas for butchering Israeli babies.

We increasingly seem to live in an Orwellian universe where wrong is right, evil is good, aggression is self-defense, terrorism is resistance, and oppression is liberation.

As for these billionaires pulling jobs and money from schools, I bet they are deeply racist against Muslims and never hire them. It’s great they are making public statements. Now I hope someone tracks back and see how racist their companies are.

Not until the terrorists are gone. Because doing so now would NOT save countless lives.

At this point isn’t Hamas a government? That means they are not terrorists but a state actor like Israel or Russia. So you can not call them terrorists because they are a state and government. Exactly like Israel is now terrorizing Gaza but they are a state so it is just war.

Neither Palestine nor Gaza is a state. This is an undeniable but inconvenient fact.

That’s not entirely true. Hamas “governs” Gaza, but no one “recognizes” them as a legitimate government. Israel does not govern Gaza. It maintains a border.

Moreover, Palestine is probably best described as a quasi-state. It is recognized as a UN observer state. Its formal statehood is recognized by 139 of the 192 UN member states. All Palestinians can access passports.

I've started and run 2 companies.

I gladly hire Muslims.

I would NEVER hire anyone who's publicly siding with Hamas ("resistance is justified") or is anti-Israel (Israel is "entirely responsible"), etc.

And no, I'm not Jewish. I just don't knowingly hire idiots or a**sholes.

Yup. I’ve been on hiring panels and would immediately disqualify someone from consideration if they held extreme views like that.

Yes. I think allowing extreme “social justice” language to proliferate on Twitter etc has really warped some young people’s sense of reality. It’s not ok to make public statements that celebrate death or espouse the destruction of an entire country. It’s also always going to be dicey to make political statements about a country that is not yours - you may drastically misunderstand what you are aligning with.

Yes. People that are picking “sides” here are showing an extreme lack of judgment. It is not hard to say that you are worried about the situation, mourn the loss of innocent lives and are hoping for peace, if you must say something.

People who say things like this get bashed for not immediately calling out Hamas as terrorists (but you are not allowed to call out Israel's response).

If the statement is made in a way that suggests Hamas’s acts were justified - that’s a problem. If you don’t understand the situation or feel like you are just going to get attacked maybe just don’t say anything. Nobody actually needs your social media takes.

I generally don't post anything political on my social media accounts. Our local school system (MCPS) got bashed pretty aggressively for sending out a nonspecific letter expressing concern for everyone impacted, because they didn't specifically call out Hamas. A lot of people are demanding folks take sides.

It depends on timing. If on 10/8 you’re not expressing grief for victims and families, but are expressing worry about the future loss of life in Gaza, you’re showing your ass. If you didn’t express any grief on 10/8 I don’t want to hear you grieving a week later about the loss of Palestinian lives without putting it in context of what just happened.

That why it’s better to be quiet unless you have a brain.

Would you hire people who publicly support and donate to the Jewish settlers in the West Bank? I bet you would

Good question! I was wondering if someone would ask about the other side of the coin.

The answer on settlers is probably no. Frankly, don’t see many (if any) people supporting settlers in the US so it hasn’t come up.

I certainly wouldn’t hire anyone calling for Gaza to be turned into “a parking lot” or celebrating Palestinian civilian casualties or the like.

Right. I’m not seeing Jewish students in the USA going around celebrating the settlers or the airstrikes, but maybe I’m missing it?

As tragic as it is, for that one Israeli father, there are 1000 fathers in Gaza holding their kids dead bodies and burying them everyday. Life is a life, it does not matter more because it’s an Israeli life.

Hey, just don't forget that there were 1400 Israelis slaughtered too.

Sure, but if we are counting then there are 6500 Palestinians dead, half of them children.

Yes, but Biden doesn't trust those numbers.

This really irked me about Biden. It's one thing to say the numbers are unconfirmed, but he basically said the Health Ministry is lying. Wow.

He is the President of the United States. He has access to intelligence information that you don't get from Twitter.

Is this the same president who had to eat crow after claiming he SAW pictures of beheaded Israeli babies?

There were beheadings, burnings alive, bullets pumped into the already murdered, rapes, torture, the gleeful celebratory calls from murderers to parents — the list goes on and on.

Interesting…when all the journalists actually had to retract their statements about seeing beheaded babies and there has not been a single confirmed report of any rape. No I am not a hamas lover or whatever you would like to call me but let’s not state lies that have clearly been proven wrong. The propaganda that comes from you guys is APPALLING. Meanwhile thousands of Palestinian children’s bodies being take out of the rubble is not a big deal to you.

No journalist retracted their statements about the brutal terroristic killings on 10/7. Stop lying.

If only you'd responded to the specific issue of beheaded babies and not shifted the topic. It's clear you have no intelligent answer that wouldn't confirm that Israel lied.

You’re completely incoherent. Every time you double down on “they lied about beheading babies! they just blew their heads off with grenades!” you make yourself more reprehensible.

Show your independently verified proof of 40 beheaded babies or shut your pie hole.

Thanks, keep on proving you are a deranged maniac!!

+1 million

This psycho wants to quibble over this?

They same people who reject Gaza reports of casualties as unverified are the same people who call people psycho for saying Israel claims are unverified. 🤡

So glad Biden allied the US with a radical religious state and gave them the green light to do anything they want. This is on you Biden.

When Joe Biden met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his war cabinet during his visit to Israel, the U.S. president assured them: "I don't believe you have to be a Jew to be a Zionist, and I am a Zionist."

The politicians and generals gathered in the ballroom of the Tel Aviv hotel nodded in approval, according to a U.S. official knowledgeable of the closed-door remarks, even as Israel bombarded Gaza in retaliation for a devastating attack by Palestinian Hamas militants and with a ground invasion looming.

Good to know that Potus is a zionist! Its one thing to know this but another that he actually uttered these words publicly. Just wow

It’s disputable. Depends on who you ask, and how they define Palestine of course. And then, it’s really irrelevant unless you want scapegoat Israel for everything that Hamas has done to its own people.

Easier for you and your compatriots to out yourself on X or Insta or TikTok.

We’ll see it and won’t hire you. Problem solved.

I am an American citizen, are you an American citizen serving in the IDF? Please don't hide behind an anonymous posting, post the names of your companies, since you are so proud of your values, so we can avoid you as an employer and as consumers.

Lol. Serving in the IDF?

Maybe you missed the “not Jewish” part of my post?

Does the IDF even accept lapsed Lutheran agnostics? 😂

And yes, I’m a US citizen (not sure why that matters).

You’re such a pouty child. Not a serious person in the slightest.

Well, as it happens, if you married a Jew, you’d qualify for Israeli citizenship and could serve in the IDF. You could remain a lapsed Lutheran agnostic.

But I realize that’s neither here nor there.

That is an interesting insult. I’ll take it. I don’t claim to be serious. I do think that people who are only talking about tragedy on one side in this conflict have black holes in their brains.

From the Washington Post:

The Gaza Health Ministry, in a statement for those who “question the validity” of its tally of the dead and injured, said it called on “all institutions” to review its workflow “for the world to know that behind every announced number is the story of a person whose name and identity are known.”

President Biden on Wednesday said he had “no confidence in the number that the Palestinians are using.”

If anything this is actually an under count thus far. There are many people buried in the rubble that they have not had the ability to excavate. There is separately many missing people in Gaza.
