“a handful of allegedly beheaded babies.” wow. What exactly do you think the US would do if there were an attack on US soil that killed 40,000 Americans (proportionate number to Israelis killed on 10/7)? Yes Israel needs to follow the laws of war, but the laws of war do not probibit killing civilians. Civilians die in wars, always. The proximate cause of deaths in Gaza is Hamas’s decision to start a war. |
That’s what I said. Seems a lot of young people really don’t understand that there is always a third or fourth or fifth way to look at these problems, they don’t have to subscribe to someone else’s politics. If you polled most people they would say that Israelis and Palestinians both have a right to live on that land, in peace, with dignity and equal rights. Violence is not the answer. |
Would you hire people who publicly support and donate to the Jewish settlers in the West Bank? I bet you would |
People who say things like this get bashed for not immediately calling out Hamas as terrorists (but you are not allowed to call out Israel's response). |
BDS is never going to work because the “free Palestine” crowd in the US is revealing itself to be a group of antisemitic thugs. They can’t hide under the claim that “we’re just criticizing the government of Israel” any longer. |
Not in my experience. And so what? |
If the statement is made in a way that suggests Hamas’s acts were justified - that’s a problem. If you don’t understand the situation or feel like you are just going to get attacked maybe just don’t say anything. Nobody actually needs your social media takes. |
This. |
Well if that is the case Israel is a a terrorist organization. If you can not admit Israel who bombs hospitals, kills reporters, target refugee convoys, kills over 3,000 children, denies food and water to 2.3 million people, etc is a terrorist organization you do not deserve to be participating in the discussion. |
Neither Palestine nor Gaza is a state. This is an undeniable but inconvenient fact. |
That’s not entirely true. Hamas “governs” Gaza, but no one “recognizes” them as a legitimate government. Israel does not govern Gaza. It maintains a border. |
I generally don't post anything political on my social media accounts. Our local school system (MCPS) got bashed pretty aggressively for sending out a nonspecific letter expressing concern for everyone impacted, because they didn't specifically call out Hamas. A lot of people are demanding folks take sides. |
Good question! I was wondering if someone would ask about the other side of the coin. The answer on settlers is probably no. Frankly, don’t see many (if any) people supporting settlers in the US so it hasn’t come up. I certainly wouldn’t hire anyone calling for Gaza to be turned into “a parking lot” or celebrating Palestinian civilian casualties or the like. |
