Looks like a new Gaza war has started

As for these billionaires pulling jobs and money from schools, I bet they are deeply racist against Muslims and never hire them. It’s great they are making public statements. Now I hope someone tracks back and see how racist their companies are.

Not until the terrorists are gone. Because doing so now would NOT save countless lives.

At this point isn’t Hamas a government? That means they are not terrorists but a state actor like Israel or Russia. So you can not call them terrorists because they are a state and government. Exactly like Israel is now terrorizing Gaza but they are a state so it is just war.

If you have seen only a small portion of what HAMAS did - yes, HAMAS - on Oct. 7 and cannot admit that they are terrorists, you do not deserve to be participating in discussions.

Hamas are terrorists. They can kill them all day long. It doesn’t mean innocent Gaza children deserve to die. It’s Israel’s job to figure out how to respond without slaughtering the civilian population. I’m not giving them an out because they feel threatened. You don’t retaliate for a handful of allegedly beheaded babies by annihilating a NICU.

“a handful of allegedly beheaded babies.”

wow.

What exactly do you think the US would do if there were an attack on US soil that killed 40,000 Americans (proportionate number to Israelis killed on 10/7)?

Yes Israel needs to follow the laws of war, but the laws of war do not probibit killing civilians. Civilians die in wars, always.

The proximate cause of deaths in Gaza is Hamas’s decision to start a war.

I've started and run 2 companies.

I gladly hire Muslims.

I would NEVER hire anyone who's publicly siding with Hamas ("resistance is justified") or is anti-Israel (Israel is "entirely responsible"), etc.

And no, I'm not Jewish. I just don't knowingly hire idiots or a**sholes.

Yup. I’ve been on hiring panels and would immediately disqualify someone from consideration if they held extreme views like that.

Yes. I think allowing extreme “social justice” language to proliferate on Twitter etc has really warped some young people’s sense of reality. It’s not ok to make public statements that celebrate death or espouse the destruction of an entire country. It’s also always going to be dicey to make political statements about a country that is not yours - you may drastically misunderstand what you are aligning with.

Yes. People that are picking “sides” here are showing an extreme lack of judgment. It is not hard to say that you are worried about the situation, mourn the loss of innocent lives and are hoping for peace, if you must say something.

There is no side to pick. Basic humanity is basic humanity.

That’s what I said. Seems a lot of young people really don’t understand that there is always a third or fourth or fifth way to look at these problems, they don’t have to subscribe to someone else’s politics. If you polled most people they would say that Israelis and Palestinians both have a right to live on that land, in peace, with dignity and equal rights. Violence is not the answer.

Would you hire people who publicly support and donate to the Jewish settlers in the West Bank? I bet you would

People who say things like this get bashed for not immediately calling out Hamas as terrorists (but you are not allowed to call out Israel's response).

You are not a good fit for employees with basic humanity standards. Post the names of your companies so we can avoid you.

Easier for you and your compatriots to out yourself on X or Insta or TikTok.

We’ll see it and won’t hire you. Problem solved.

I am an American citizen, are you an American citizen serving in the IDF? Please don't hide behind an anonymous posting, post the names of your companies, since you are so proud of your values, so we can avoid you as an employer and as consumers.

BDS is never going to work because the “free Palestine” crowd in the US is revealing itself to be a group of antisemitic thugs. They can’t hide under the claim that “we’re just criticizing the government of Israel” any longer.

Not in my experience. And so what?

If the statement is made in a way that suggests Hamas’s acts were justified - that’s a problem. If you don’t understand the situation or feel like you are just going to get attacked maybe just don’t say anything. Nobody actually needs your social media takes.

Well if that is the case Israel is a a terrorist organization. If you can not admit Israel who bombs hospitals, kills reporters, target refugee convoys, kills over 3,000 children, denies food and water to 2.3 million people, etc is a terrorist organization you do not deserve to be participating in the discussion.

Neither Palestine nor Gaza is a state. This is an undeniable but inconvenient fact.

That’s not entirely true. Hamas “governs” Gaza, but no one “recognizes” them as a legitimate government. Israel does not govern Gaza. It maintains a border.

I generally don't post anything political on my social media accounts. Our local school system (MCPS) got bashed pretty aggressively for sending out a nonspecific letter expressing concern for everyone impacted, because they didn't specifically call out Hamas. A lot of people are demanding folks take sides.

Would you hire people who publicly support and donate to the Jewish settlers in the West Bank? I bet you would

Good question! I was wondering if someone would ask about the other side of the coin.

The answer on settlers is probably no. Frankly, don’t see many (if any) people supporting settlers in the US so it hasn’t come up.

I certainly wouldn’t hire anyone calling for Gaza to be turned into “a parking lot” or celebrating Palestinian civilian casualties or the like.
