You are absolutely right PP. although in this case people are more focused on the fact that the supposed perpetrators were illegal immigrants.

I have caught a lot of flack for trying to keep the immigration status and ethnicity of the suspects out of the discussion (admittedly unsuccessfully), so I would ask that you not make this a religious issue. Moreover, as I'm sure you know, it is almost certain that the suspects are both Christians. So, in a sense, those parents are doing what you suggest.

Jeff, I hate to make your life harder but I want to point out one thing. How come it is ok to talk about race, ethnicity, immigration status and religion in almost all conversations in this country now - but not on the MD Schools forum?

Religion is very much in play in our daily lives at schools now. Muslims can be vilified for covering their head or praying at schools (all in the news lately). And if travel bans can be imposed on Muslims, if Sikhs can be shot because they wear a turban, swastikas can be drawn, synagogues can be desecrated...then religion is very much part of the conversation, is it not?. What would have been the reaction if two Somalian-American Muslim boys were the accused in the HS rape? Even though they would have been citizens, their origin, skin color, religion would have become important. So, when Christians are doing the same crimes, why are we to keep quite?

Furthermore, we are not even sure now if this was a forced rape or consensual encounter that went too far. The fact that these boys did not flee the school is pretty telling. But, this is not what is being discussed on this forum is it? The thread about security becomes talks about illegal immigrants or non-Whites. Well, I am not able to flee anywhere even when I know that Christians are providing me the reasons to leave.

I completely agree that the fact that they did not flee the school is very telling. It makes me think that they've RAPED before and gotten away with it, so they weren't even the slightest bit worried that they would get in trouble. It makes me think that they've gotten away breaking the law so many other times (think, crossing the border ILLEGALLY), that they're not afraid of punishment.

They dragged a 14 year old into the bathroom, and the one attacker threw her coat over her head on the way out. This was NOT CONSENSUAL. She was 14. Repeat that to yourself.

100% right.

The lawyer will say they stayed because it was consensual. They will say a rape victim would have run out of the bathroom and down to the hall to help. That she covered her head so the camera would not show who she was so she did not get in trouble.

Exactly, this is a dumb point and I'm not sure why its being focused on. You can't runaway when there is a victim that knows you and where can you run to? If they had all this experience that made them stay this time, does that mean they ran before? When they ran before and didn't get caught why not keep running? Who cares why they stayed, its the physical evidence and camera that matters.

16 but between 14-16 it is 4 years so a 14 yo can consent to a 15, 16, 17 and 18 yo.

No. Of course not... an illegal immigrant raping somebody in MoCo is like finding a needle in haystack of rapes.

200+ rapes and only 1 by an illegal immigrant... and only 1 on Fox News.

People only care about this one for political gain.

Wait, how do you know that this 14 year old girl was NOT black? There has been no info released about her (thankfully and rightfully so). Why do you assume that the girl was white?

You are absolutely right PP. although in this case people are more focused on the fact that the supposed perpetrators were illegal immigrants.

We don't even know if the victim is a citizen frankly.

She's a legal immigrant.

No, people probably stopped talking about it because MCPS tried to cover it up. If it wasn't for parents emailing the BOE and sharing links this would probably get swept under the rug also. That's how MCPS rolls.

Yes. MCPS does sweep teen crime under the rug. I agree.

People only care about this one specific crime because it is a hispanic person (which is rare) and it is fashionable to be xenaphobic.

Seriously, your post makes no sense.

Are you saying because the victim was Hispanic, all the posters are being xenophobic? Then, why do the posters even care? You're implying people don't care about black and Hispanic people, but then you're upset that they're angry about this rape because the victim was Hispanic?

Because we KNOW that the RAPISTS were illegal immigrants and because we know they should not have been at the school. They should have been deported.

We know nothing about the girl (and we should not), except that she was 14 and did not deserve to be raped AT school.

MCPD said they believe she is a US citizen.

+1 There have been rapes in HS before, all over the country. Barely seems to make a blip on the news radar.

This is just being exploited by people who see it as a means to push their political agendas.

I read somewhere that the rapist with the ICE case against him had been wanted for sexual assault-which is why he had the ICE case/deportation order. Cannot find link now but it makes one pause.....
