Watched the new episode this morning, so stop reading if you haven’t seen it yet.

I’d be very surprised if they canceled it already but maybe they should if they can’t come up with any plot lines besides “something bad happens to Carrie, and Miranda and Charlotte have to take care of her again some more.” And again, they’re not that old and the show is acting like they’re 75.

I actually gasped when I saw that Anthony was the fourth at lunch. The bit about the PT was good. And Carrie doped up on the podcast. Those felt like the real show. And kudos for the texting with Samantha - it’s cheating but I could actually hear her.

I don’t need to see Miranda like that…so gross. It has nothing to do with Che being non-binary and everything to do with Miranda just looking gross, pathetic and past her shelf life. Ew. That whole scene was disgusting, not because of the physical act but because she was letting down her friend who needed her. It was so gross, so undignified, and how about she lost her shit when Steve cheated on her, but now suddenly being unfaithful is a-frickin’-OK. Gross.

I thought it was very real but, yes, selfish and undignified. I wish there was stronger dialogue about how profound unhappiness can turn you into a version of yourself you don't recognize. But Che is obnoxious and very one-dimensional compared to the other new characters. Hope they and the podcast make a quick exit sooner rather than later. More Seema, please!

Yeah it was gross. Way too much screen time.

I don't like the Che character either, but I give credit to Cynthia Nixon for fighting to normalize gay sex.

Wait so at the end of episode 5 have we just zoomed forward 3 months?

I thought ep 1 was terrible. But since then I’ve enjoyed watching it. Am I the only one?

I enjoy it too! It’s different but I like it.

I think in part it was a bit of a shock because it was more realistic than sex tends to be on this show. It’s always been highly stylized. Will be interesting to see if greater realism happens across the board.

I just had to wonder: should they perhaps write the Me Too issues with Chris Noth into the show? Someone you thought you knew turns out to have been different and much more awful than you were aware of. How could you have missed it? Did your privilege allow you to overlook problematic behavior? Should Carrie even keep his money? ha ha they will never do that.

I always admired Cynthia Nixon's acting ability, but her scene with Carrie after the tryst with Che was very awkward -- the silly giggling and evasiveness just didn't seem in character for "old" Miranda at all.

I don't have teen girls, so maybe that's why I was mystified by this, but "Rock" rapping about her new name on TikTok (shouldn't she be called "Rap"?) and expecting their parents to watch it also seemed unusual.

Loved the texting scene with Samantha. She needs to come back.

Was this the first time we've seen the hallway outside Carrie's apartment?

I believe it is the first time we've seen the hallway. This whole time I was under the impression she was in a first floor walkup, not one floor up beyond that.

Totally agree about Steve. I hope they address her hypocrisy on this point. In general I have been disappointed by her lack of parenting backbone and cringy behavior in class. I really don't know where they are going with this and why.
