And that's what the hats mean now.
That's all.

It's really telling that no one has come on to address this question.

Was their behavior really representing their purported faith that brought them to a rally to speak for the sanctity of life? Why are their parents spending money on a school that has failed to instill Catholic values in them?

Simply by virtue of the fact that they were there defending those who cannot speak for themselves..... the unborn. I know this is hard for you to understand, but that is why they were present.

The social media mob is working overtime in taking these kids down. It is shameful. They are teenagers and still have a lot to learn about the world. I cannot believe that there are adults who condone the actions of social media to cause these kids to be put at risk.

I really hope those who are looking to take legal action are successful. This type of social media shaming is harmful, dangerous, and hateful.

Defending the unborn by excusing rape. Nice.

Do we know that kid ("it's not rape if you enjoy it") and the boys harassing the girls on the street are, in fact, Covington Catholic students? The one is clearly from that area as he is wearing a Bengals sweatshirt.

You know what I saw? After the one kid yells his comment about rape (which was not acceptable at all), the boys around him scolded him... he then retreated into the background.

You know what else is interesting about this clip? It was cut off at an interesting spot. Right when someone was saying, "he does not go to...."
Hmm.. Seems that the kid yelling this may not actually be a student at this school.

Which is why I asked the question in the first place . . . yet no one can answer it. But, he is from the area (and probably with the kids). Cincy is right across the river. They play the Cincy schools in sports (I have relatives there). So, even if that kid didn't go to the school, I'd be shocked if he wasn't with them. It is a different context, for sure. But doesn't totally exonerate them if he is under the supervision of the chaperones there.

I’m a graduate of Catholic schools and I can tell you if we had ever behaved as boneheaded and cave-mannish as those boys did on a field trip the nuns would have knocked the crap out of us.

They definitely should have brought along nuns as chaperones.

I know, right? I went to high school on an army base. Anyone acting like that on a field trip would have not just had the school go to the parents, but the school would have called in the dad's commanding officer.

Also Nick Sandmann is deplorable. Plenty of the boys moved out of Nathan Phillips way but Nick Sandmann just stood there, like a blithering idiot with a smirk on his face. His behavior captured on video stands in stark contrast to his flowery statement claiming innocence.

Where the hell were the chaperones?!

Not sure that is true. His story changed a little after the full video came out. He may have been trying to justify his own behavior.

Remember, these were not adults.

The initial story made it seem like the boys had swarmed him. I was outraged.

Then I saw that Nathan chose to walk through the crowd and Sandmann chose to stay in place while the other boys moved out of the way.

I think on a larger scale the confrontation represents clash of values in our country, which has people identifying so strongly with either side.

Watch this video. Those kids were out of control. https://twitter.com/i/status/1087484002863325185

He was brave to approach them. It did calm the confrontation with the black hebrew israelites (who are CRAZY people) but then the kids did swarm him.

Why the hell should he have to "move out of the way?" Because Nathan Phillips is OLD? Because of his race? If Sandmann was in a spot he had EVERY right to be in FIRST, why should he have to move?

Because Christianity teachers us to defer to our elders and show them respect. Are you saying that kid is not a Christian and has no need to follow Christian beliefs about how one behaves?

The Black Israelites are nutters and disgusting. No one is defending them.

The teen chaperones also didn't show good judgement.

Not saying the kids were choir boys. But, it was an adult who walked up to the kid and invaded his space--with a camera following him. And, a companion who was screaming insults at the kids.

The kid was 15 years old.

Please watch this. https://twitter.com/i/status/1087484002863325185 The conflict was out of control. The situation was tense. That kid is not a a victim at all.

Probably not now - did you grow up on a base???? Times were different then and YES if you got in to an altercation with crazy people on a field trip you would have been in a huge amount of trouble. I have heard it is different now and snowflake behavior of not taking responsibility for your kid acting like an idiot is accepted.

If you were the kid's spiritual advisor, how would you counsel him when he next comes to confession?

Stop trying to make the kid the victim. He isn't.

My father and uncles were in vietnam, both my grandfathers were in WWII, my great grandfather was in WWI.

I still expect my kid to behave in public and not be an asshole to an elderly person who is in the middle of his own march in public.

Call me crazy for having high standards for my child.

The rush to villianize Phillips just makes the kids look worse and worse.

Accept responsibility for acting like an aggressive mob of ill behaved kids. Blame it on the teachers and chaperones for not requiring you to behave yourself.

The actions of those kids does not rise to the level of calling a commander. No one assaulted anyone, their were no injuries or arrests.

Now the black and Hispanic service members might try to go down and kick the asses of the black Jews for calling their kids the n word and that certain area could be put off limits to service members and dependents because base wouldn’t want further issues. But otherwise peddle your stank elsewhere.
