Option H is permanent and the old Wootton HS campus will be closed for good?

"Over my d body" is what protesters said

Not protestors-one person. And your comment has nothing to do with what the pp asked. They will make the decision in March. But yes right now the choice for H is moving Wootton to Crown and a portion of Rosemont.

Ok I agree, that solution seems reasonable to me.

it’s not reasonable at all. You don’t close a school because you made a bad financial decision and are making a whole school pay for your stupidity. MCPS has a school being built that they can’t fill because of their own poor planning. That’s not Wootton’s problem to take on.

As a Wootton parent I’m trying to understand how people not involved in this boundary study have so many strong feelings about how great it will be for H to go through.

If there was an issue going on in east county I wouldn’t be participating at all in a discussion for it. This is because I have absolutely no knowledge or investment in the schools or neighborhoods around there so I wouldn’t make it my business. How could I possibly have an opinion on closing a school and relocating it/changing it when I have no personal knowledge of the situation? Answer is I couldn’t. So explain to me how it works-why are some of you so invested in something that doesn’t have anything to do with you?

The reason why the trolls are out in force in this thread is because there is a school of thought that eliminating a top school is the best way to create equity. Why strive for excellence when you can try to get mediocrity across the board? If everyone is mediocre, nobody looks bad. This is what some call a level playing field

I didn’t have strong feelings until I saw how obnoxious the Wootton parents are.

Yeah it’s pretty obnoxious not to want your school closed and relocated to a totally different area 3 miles away-how crazy! We should just stay quiet and let them walk all over us. But regardless how obnoxious you think we are-why do you care? it doesn’t effect you. Why would you even participate in a thread that has zero to do with you? I would say that’s actually more obnoxious.

Because they live in crown and pretend to be outsiders

They are moving the school to a new location without regard to how Gaithersburg residents feel as parents had a fit saying their school is unsafe. If the school is unsafe then the best solution except of the problems it causes Gaithersburg families who were promised the school, is to move there. Many schools are in bad condition. Wootton is not special.

You getting priority for repairs bumps another school so it impacts those families and that school. That is what we have an issue with. You will not wait your turn for repairs despite getting regular upgrades and maintance and acting like you are the only school with issues.

Oh my.. MCPS isn't doing this for equity. Be real. It's a good school with a lot of issues. Personally, I wouldn't send my kids there as there are huge safety issues.

Give me a break. It has way less safety issues than some other schools. Probably even less than the school your kids currently attend. You are probably the same poster who posted about the R*pe there and then didn’t bother to look up what happened with the investigation.

Wootton never received priority. Instead, it was repeatedly delayed in the CIP and ultimately removed altogether. You don’t actually take issue with whether Wootton gets priority, you’re simply trying to leverage Wootton as an asset to increase your own property values

Crown will not increase anyone's property values. The school will be mediocre at best. if H passes, a decent portion of the Wootton kids will not even end up there due to their parents either moving or sending them to private schools. I do not think the trolls are after anything other than the satisfaction of tearing down someone else's success.

I saw what the investigation said but something bad happened and you can be in denial but there are also other bad things that happened. No sports rapes at our school that we know of.
