Pete Hedgseth for Secretary of Defense

Friend’s daughter selected for the academy. I told her she needs to reconsider. It is not going to be a safe place for women with the new SECDEF condoning rape and sexual discrimination. The girl is taking a look at her other options. I don’t know what her final decision will be, but she has been provided with some food for thought.

Ah so that's what those fireworks were for.

Out Chinese and Russian loving voters basically picked him. They wave the flag around and talk about America first and then do the bidding of our adversaries.

Somehow, I don't think he would let a Chinese spy balloon cross the United States and its military facilties.

There's a reason Putin wanted him to win.

Why?

Rubio is one of them, of course he was easily confirmed. Ted Cruz is probably the only Senator who wouldn’t have enough votes.

But Rubio won’t last four years. Trump will oust him over something petty. These guys never learn.

I have a DC who just commissioned. Obviously everyone is appalled by Hedgseth. He is a lightweight morning tv troll. I like to think he's either going to get marginalized by the undersecretaries who do the real business of running the US military. Or he's going to flame out quickly because he's a weak man with a drinking problem. Fingers crossed that he doesn't last a year. There will be a lot of bipartisan pushback if Hedgseth's stupidity and culture war bomb throwing impacts the professionalism of the military. We are all hoping he is nothing more than a brief blip.

Exactly. Some pretty woman will get him drunk and steal our military secrets.

Yep, Hegseth only mentions Chinese aggression in his opening "Message to the Force"

Do not ever say the words merit again. He is patently unqualified.

The problem is he is the most qualified republican out there. This is why the senate confirmed him. Who is left at Fox News to take his place?

This too isn’t going to end well…

It was total nonsense that he got off the hook for his alcoholism by simply saying he will stop if he gets the job. If your life has been touched by alcoholism, then you know this. I am married to an alcoholic. One who is trying so hard to quit. It is almost another full-time job. He even avoids being home by himself because that’s where he falters. Even with all the work he puts in, he is currently 0 days sober. He had been doing well, but this week was pretty unbearable at his job.

Hegseth clearly has a drinking problem, and to think that he can just quit is extremely naive. Especially with all the job pressure and responsibility he is about to have.
