Please don’t put it those terms. Feds just want to do their jobs, like everyone else. Nothing — and I mean nothing — about this is vacation-like.

You are not working, and getting paid for it. That's about as vacation-like as it gets.

You know it’s not a vacation.

If someone told me I couldn't work, would get paid for the time, and needed to stay home, I'd absolutely consider it a vacation. The fact that you can't spend it at the beach doesn't change that.

Yes, bring on the staycation!

I don't understand why anyone thought a shutdown could be averted this week. It was over last Friday.

And given the characters in the Freedom Caucus, this shutdown might go on for more than 2 weeks. I think they'll start negotiating seriously again when Trump smells blood in the water and posts about getting the government up and running again.

So mentally brace yourselves.

Do your vacations usually end at arbitrary times without notice and require you to report to work within four hours?

That’s not how I read the USAID guidance today. However, they have stayed open in the past. Using multi-year forward funding.

This is patently untrue. We have been preparing for shutdown and furloughs all day.

It is. Worked for M/CIO during last shutdown. My Fed leads worked with no pay and some contractor worked because contract awards had the funds allocated.

Not quite how it works, but yeah when they turn off civilian GPS and every Uber driver halts, good times.

I would be ok with that! I’d stay home and get caught up on projects around the house. Read a few books, try new recipes, exercise….

But it’s not a vacation.

And folks forget there are many folks who work for the government who aren’t federal workers and don’t have the same pay protections. Cafeteria worker and sanitation teams etc. will all lose pay period

Has that moron ever said anything else?

Do we have to report on Monday for the shutdown?

Except, this only became about the border 4 days ago when McCarthy needed a talking point and throwing money at border security isn't going to address the need for congress to enact real immigration reform.

And somehow make up the work you planned to be doing during that time because you have an actual vacation planned during the holidays!
