It's really telling that no one has come on to address this question.

Was their behavior really representing their purported faith that brought them to a rally to speak for the sanctity of life? Why are their parents spending money on a school that has failed to instill Catholic values in them?

Simply by virtue of the fact that they were there defending those who cannot speak for themselves..... the unborn. I know this is hard for you to understand, but that is why they were present.

The social media mob is working overtime in taking these kids down. It is shameful. They are teenagers and still have a lot to learn about the world. I cannot believe that there are adults who condone the actions of social media to cause these kids to be put at risk.

I really hope those who are looking to take legal action are successful. This type of social media shaming is harmful, dangerous, and hateful.

How the hell does a group of white teenage boys have any say in regards to a woman's health right? The answer is ZERO. These kids do not think of the unborn. They were there to enjoy a day off from school. If the school and these kids are so concerned with children, perhaps the day would have been better spent volunteering at the food bank or children's hospital.

As for social media, these kids should be well aware that actions have consequences. If they don't want their behavior to be posted on social media, perhaps they could have acted more mature and ignored the other protesters? After all, aren't these the same people that are quick to label a woman all kinds of names simply because she has an abortion?

I don't blame them any more than I'd blame the typical suburban kid who posts pics of her breasts on Snapchat. Social media has ruined an entire generation, and only the truly perceptive kids (usually with parents who are on their ass speaking the ugly truth) use social media wisely.

I'm a Catholic school product. I know the culture of wealthy Catholics. Money is always a fortress, and God is on their side. I don't give these kids a break regarding some of their behaviors, but I also know they've been groomed to behave this way. So a smirk is more than a smirk. I get it.

However, as has been mentioned before (again and again), the HBIs are vile, and while Phillips may not be a true vet, this story was thrown around to defend his actions. And he himself came to the defense of the HBIs. As a Native American, he's probably not happy with whites in general and therefore, he sided with the HBIs. not a good reason imo

So I think everyone was at fault. The boys were assholes. The chanting and "tomahawk moves" were immature and offensive. The HBIs are just a bunch of morons labeled as a hate group, and Phillips was trying to gain some attention.

So the media - both right and left - had a field day. Remember that camera angles and SEGMENTS of the greater whole will contaminate the truth. And after reading the posts on this thread, I really do question how smart American ADULTS are . . . Is it any wonder our own kids are clueless?

Was their behavior at the Lincoln memorial an outward manifestation of the tenets of their Catholic faith? If yes how so, if no why not?

Take your theological Buzzfeed quiz to the religious forum. This is the political forum where political discourse as it relates to protections in the Constitution are discussed.

They are the same everyday, that group. Hence "turn the other cheek" which the boys failed to do.

I really don’t think it was wise of Nathan Phillips to walk through a group of fired up highschool students. There was a clear path 10 feet to his right. I understand he was trying to intervene but it clearly did not work in hindsight.

Also Nick Sandmann is deplorable. Plenty of the boys moved out of Nathan Phillips way but Nick Sandmann just stood there, like a blithering idiot with a smirk on his face. His behavior captured on video stands in stark contrast to his flowery statement claiming innocence.

Where the hell were the chaperones?!

Not sure that is true. His story changed a little after the full video came out. He may have been trying to justify his own behavior.

Remember, these were not adults.

Just saw a twitter thread where the encounter was described as an "Asshole Valhalla." Everyone who wants to be mad can definitely find something to work with here.

The initial story made it seem like the boys had swarmed him. I was outraged.

Then I saw that Nathan chose to walk through the crowd and Sandmann chose to stay in place while the other boys moved out of the way.

I think on a larger scale the confrontation represents clash of values in our country, which has people identifying so strongly with either side.

Defending the unborn by excusing rape. Nice.

Do we know that kid ("it's not rape if you enjoy it") and the boys harassing the girls on the street are, in fact, Covington Catholic students? The one is clearly from that area as he is wearing a Bengals sweatshirt.

IT WASN'T BLACKFACE!
It was a "blackout game," genius. So sick of the rumors you and others are spreading.

"Years of imposing negative values?" Bull$hit. You, dear, are the one that needs to take a step back.

So black t-shirts are one thing. Painting their faces black? Who ever thought that’d be ok? This community has poor judgement.

There is a difference between black face and a blackout game. Sorry you don't get that.
To see a racial angle with every situation is a sad way to go through life.

Poor judgement. The first adult that sees a kid with blackface should have shut that down

This is also a group who systematically exploits kids to push their political agenda. So not very surprising. Poor judgment. Questionable morals.

Once again. It wasn't "blackface." But, go ahead and keep spreading lies.
A group who exploits kids? You mean, because the parents and the school instill the value of sanctity of life they are pushing a political agenda?
So, you not only search for racism where it doesn't exist, but now you are demonstrating an anti-Catholic attitude.
So, you have checked off the race box. And the religion box.
Now, find something about the "male" box and the "Trump supporter" box and you'll be batting 1000.

1) Where did I say anything racism? I said the adults had poor judgement to let any kid have blackface (& black body), especially at a school event. Kids are probably clueless about the historical meaning but the first adult who saw that should have shut that down immediately. Poor judgement.

2) The school and parents are welcome to instill their values at home and school. As soon as they have their kids MARCHING or protesting with graphic signs then they are using this kids to push their political agenda. They are inserting themselves into other people’s beliefs, choices, and bodies.

Poor judgement and questionable morals for this whole community.

DP. What bout the judgment of the hate-group black males and the "in-your-face" taunting of the Native American? Those ADULTS sure had bad judgment!

The Black Israelites are nutters and disgusting. No one is defending them.

The teen chaperones also didn't show good judgement.

I am absolutely certain you said the exact same thing about the thousands of women who brought their children to the women's march. Right?

The teens I know who attended went there because they WANTED to go. Not because their school required them to go or gave them extra credit.

DP. And do you say the same about the Women's March participants, who had their kids out there with graphic signs? (I remember an especially disgusting one with a toddler girl holding a sign that said "keep your law out of my c*nt.) How DARE liberal parents exploit their children that way!

If the child wasn't there willingly -- not bribed with extra credit or have it required for school -- then I agree it's exploitation.

(for those who want to claim these weren't Covington boys, you can see the shirts among the group)

There are also girls among the group. Are you claiming they are "Covington boys" as well?

You mean the girls that are appalled over their behavior.

Or the girl walking down the street that they cat call?

Do you see a girl yelling at somebody in the video?

Were they cat calling her? I watched the clip and it seems they were shouting ?MAGA, MAGA". Pretty annoying and uncalled for but I see no evidence of any sexual harassment there.

Something I'm missing?

Not saying the kids were choir boys. But, it was an adult who walked up to the kid and invaded his space--with a camera following him. And, a companion who was screaming insults at the kids.

The kid was 15 years old.

You know what I saw? After the one kid yells his comment about rape (which was not acceptable at all), the boys around him scolded him... he then retreated into the background.
