Then dont play with your SY if you are good enough to stay with older group. This is a dumb post. |
Keep fighting it, but definitely happened. His kid is a defender and one of the bigger players on the team. I was surprised to find out that she was a younger August birthday. |
He's using every argument and tactic he can find to push his same grade agenda It doesn't need to make sense to the rest of us, only him |
What's younger August and what's regular August and what's older August? |
Not a dumb post at all. I think he was working through in his head why they're trying to make his daughter play on a team with players that are a grade below her. If you're not that involved in youth soccer and not looking to play down it doesnt make sense. Most people assume playing up is what the best players do not the other way around. |
I guess older August is a grade up and Younger August is a grade down. |
You play your birth month/year, skill level and physicality, not your grade How is it playing down if the age group is 8/1/2014 to July 31, 2015 and you're born 8/10/2014? |
Your head is so deep in the sand you can see China. Ignore all you want but this was a real conversation from a real parent about a real Aug birthday g2016 player. I was surprised when he said it. Which is why I asked questions and tried not to provide any advise.I wanted to see what he was thinking without any outside influence. |
Twilight Zone and bizarro world going on here |
Is he in the padded room with you now? |
Things change when you get to Olders. Once recruiting is introduced into the mix you'll want your kid playing on a team thats their grade in school not on a team thats a grade lower. Clubs know this and if they're serious about long term development and getting players onto college teams they'll play Aug birthdays with their grade as young as possible. |
You make yourself look stupid. Its ok, once teams are finalized for next season and rosters (with graduation year) are posted you'll go away. |
Your cut&paste game is on point No coach wants your U16 kid on their U17 team if they're not good enough just because of their school grade What parallel universe do you exist? |
True, because I heard college coaches have no way of knowing now when kids they're interested in are going to graduate HS |
They'll know immediately that a player is graduating in say 2028 but playing against other teams at a 2029 level. Might as well pick up players from the B team. At least they're playing against other players that are graduating the same year. Why would you choose a player thats playing down a level when in college you're going to be playing against players that are all 1-4 maybe even more years older |
