| ^Also—as you know—a narrative isn’t a direct quote, so you were wrong when you asked for a quote to prove a narrative. |
Can you point to even a single example of the narrative that the poster claims exists on DCUM and is the thing that bothers her most? |
RIP, strawman. You tried your hardest, but ultimately failed. Slayed by facts.

I am female, have been for 50 years, and I'm with Jeff. |

Please, there are many example ITT including several from you. So many derails - "How you dare you care about this when the Southern Baptists don't let women preach"?! "How dare you care about this when Roe was just overturned?!, you don't care about abortion rights" "How dare you care about women being assaulted by men in prison, don't you know that MEN's prisons are violent too?" |
And that’s totally fine. There is really no right or wrong here. Majority will eventually win. |
You are misrepresenting what posters have said. The need to exaggerate or outright lie about posts with which you disagree suggests that actual posts are insufficient for you to make your point. As the poster above suggests, you are waging a war against straw men. That may allow you to avoid addressing the arguments that have actually been made, but does not contribute to good faith discussions. |
Oh come ON. You know darn well the PP was making a point about the broader narrative. Maybe she used quotes incorrectly. But you know what she meant. You were just trying to stick it to her on a literal technicality. But ok. |
Even generally, in any words, where was the poster told that the transgender issue was "manly" and should only be discussed by people that matter more than her? |
Agree 100%. I'd go so far as to say that it's complete BS. Who is calling it manly? Trans men? Trans women? Nonbinary people? There won't be a response actually explaining who is calling trans topics "too manly" because she made it up whole cloth which is really ridiculous since I"m sure that she could have just linked some cringy trans woman flashing her breasts on the white house lawn and been like, "Look at what all trans women do" instead of posting what seems to be literal lies. |
I think that you’re failing to account for the manner in which women are constantly told to be quiet, spoken over, and dismissed. I promise we can see what’s happening. |
That may well be true as a society-wide issue but is not something that has been happening in this discussion in which nearly all participants are women and all views are being given equal voice. It's hard to speak over a written message. Moreover, this is a different complaint than that made by the earlier poster who did not simply complain that her views were dismissed, but that she was told not to talk about "manly" issues that should be left to those that matter more than her. That simply didn't happen. |
I am not the “manly” poster but even if we take “manly” out of the equation a large number of women definitely feel as though we are being told the feelings of trans people matter more than our feelings. We are told that our outrage over transwomen competing in women’s sports isn’t valid because there is such a small number of trans athletes so why would we be upset about this? That’s saying that Lia Thomas’ teammates have to just suck it up. |
It's true! I took a poll at the co-op and 11/10 people agreed with me. I counted the non-binary person twice! |
