NP. Maybe? And for purposes of this case, it doesn't matter what we think; it matters only what those jurors think. Jurors are people with their own life experiences, perceptions, preconceived notions. Trial is a roll of the dice. |
Mdna drugs were ok too (I don’t know the acronym). I also called BS that when she took these she didn’t feel the effects of them! Her testimony on several of these were when she herself was also high. |
Is this the jury room? Man Jeff has amazing powers! Oh right, this is a discussion board. No one here, except for you, thinks anything that is said here has any legal basis for the case. |

Does anyone really believe that they got the flight attendant to do extasy with them? What?? And then Johnny assaulted her and all she did was "immediately start crying" and then went to where "the fought attendants hang out".
Really?? Noone noticed anything, a flight attendant took illegal drugs on an international flight, yelling, crying, grabbing in the presence of Johnny Depp and noone noticed anything. This all definitely happened but likely only in Amber's extasy warped brain. So bizarre. |
| Seems like a flight attendant, Lily, someone could corroborate her claims? |
| Heard's team seems to be doing a decent job of covering their bases by emphasizing the drugs and alcohol. As in, even if you thought that Johnny Depp was telling the truth when he testified, he can't possibly be trusted to have remembered the truth because he was so blotto. He may be lying unintentionally, but he is not remembering the truth. Heard, on the other hand, drank and took the drugs but somehow never felt the effects and has a clear memory. |
| Did Depp have drug and alcohol problems with his other wives? The mother of his kids still thinks fondly of him, right? Was he sober when he was with her? |
|
I don't know. This thread seems full of people very heavily invested in Depp being the hero and he certainly doesn't come off that way to me. Seems likely to me that he was on a bunch of drugs etc. and doesn't remember some of the terrible things he did, and also lines up with my experience of someone like this in my own life.
I thought he looked genuinely regretful during some of her testimony. Like he thought, maybe she had a point about them having been deeply in love, and then his paranoia (due to the drugs or whatever) about her encouraging stewardesses and the like -- and his abusive behavior in reaction to that paranoia -- really ruined things. He was covering his eyes and looking down and seemed very tense. I thought he looked ashamed and sad and tense. |
That has been my read of the situation as well. As she is speaking he can't look at her. He looks embarrassed and ashamed. |
| What was the explanation about Amber not paying out for the donation from the settlement that she received? That in itself cries being deceitful Narc. |
| NP. I could never be on this jury. I found Depp's testimony about growing up abused both triggering and therapeutic. My mom is a less extreme version of his who stuck to verbal and emotional, but not physical abuse. I believed every word of that and understand why as an adult he still tried to please her be "close." I think he repeated the patter with Amber and became like his father. i got help to make sure I did not repeat my parent's relationship. I do think Depp coped with substance abuse and under the influence probably became abusive and may not even remember. I see them both as likely perpetrators and victims. |
That's not how it works. They're totally doing this to get free publicity and lineup their next jobs. |
I know its not obvious because of the anonymity but I’ve argued both of their sides multiple times on this thread. Watching today, I really don’t like her method over overdramatizing. When she’s talking about his proposal to her she’s all romantic language and dramatic pauses. At one point she said “I looked into his eyes and I…..” and I thought to myself “Oh dear god, please don’t say my future and hope” and then she said exactly that. It rubs me the wrong way. If she’s being truthful or not, if I was a juror this would be getting very annoyed with this. She’s described him as awfully jealous and abusive and then she’s obviously easily swayed (she keeps saying “so in love” in a whispery tone) by his blinding charm into marriage. There’s just a lot more to her narrative. There obviously was for him too. There are parts of her narrative that do ring true though about the way possessive and jealous men are. My own experience was similar in several ways. I don’t think she’s lying in everything she says. I think there is very much a lot embellishment and some inventiveness in some of her anecdotes though. |
This is a very bad read. He’s likely made a conscious decision not to look at her or he has been counseled not to. It could appear he’s intimidating her or staring her down to a jury. Additionally, many victims find it difficult to look their abusers in the eye. |
Hahaha, no. He’s been on drugs and alcohol since age 11 by his own statements. He has always used drugs and alcohol. I guess the question is how out of control it was. |
