Thank you so much for getting us out of a tough situation in Dallas and Houston! We froze during a cold snap and could not provide power to the people. The homes we service were required to go on rolling power outages at a time when they really needed heat! We felt so bad. Coming to the rescue to unfreeze us was a very kind gesture. It’s important we work together.

From Gov Abbot:

"The Texas power grid has not been compromised. The ability of some companies that generate the power has been frozen. This includes the natural gas & coal generators.
They are working to get generation back on line. ERCOT & PUC are prioritizing residential consumers."

And it was petroleum that got them out of the bind: A helicopter running on fossil fuel spraying a chemical made from fossil fuels onto a wind turbine made with fossils fuels

Cool story.

Remember when Ted Cruz and the Texan delegation denied aid to NY for superstorm Sandy? Remember when Cruz and the Republicans refused any aid for the states in the covid relief bill? Remember when they said DC could only get 3/5? Remember when they didnt give any aid to Puerto Rico? Remember when Trump refused to give aid to parts of the country that didn't support him? I remember

Wow nothing like Texas efficiency. Too bad Enron is not around to give them a hand!

The whole wind story is a lie. Hilarious. They care more about owning the libs than stopping their own pipes from freezing. Now that's dedication.

Can’t trust nuclear either.

The governor told the truth. It’s Fox News that is lying.

We’ll all get a taste of this in another decade or so when half the automobile fleet is electric, and everyone’s car is charging in their driveway at night while the power grid is maxed out.

No regulation, spot market for electricity, Texas = $9,000 per megawatt-hour. Power typically costs $25 per megawatt-hour. Enron is back in business!

Hearing from friends that it’s getting real bad. They need to deploy the National Guard with generators to setup heating centers.

“A lot of people didn't eat today because grocery stores, restaurants, etc all closed and without power. Lots of people going and spending hours at a time sitting in their car just so they can stay warm enough”

Yep. I don’t recall any major messaging on this storm. The DMV was over-prepared two weeks ago meanwhile it seems no one was prepared in Texas. It’s going to snow much more in the next 48 hours.

People have no power, no electricity, no heat, frozen pipes and will most likely be low on food. Oh and all the roads and highways are iced over because they can’t plow, salt and radiant heating in the asphalt doesn’t exist in Texas.
