Wait, I thought it was the US that's the evil one on the world stage, what with putting our military bases in other people's back yards and meddling in their domestic politics, etc. When did this perception change? |
Yeah when has the U.S. ever deployed its forces against civilians in the U.S. oh wait. |
I trust the US military a million times more than a loose armed gang of civilians with no accountability, no legal expertise, spoiling for a fight with a constitutionally elected government, and eager to take over US land and declare a separatist state. The US military certainly has its problems, but the militias are far more harmful to this country as a wellspring of domestic terrorism. |
Yes, I accuse millions of gun owners as fantasizing about killing government officials and other Americans with whom they disagree politically. This is 100% reality. |
The widespread looting and property is awful. The left should condemn that, and many have. But those looters and rioters are not a threat to our Republic. There's not enough of them, and (aside from a few hardcore radicals) their goal is not overthrow of our legitimate, constitutional, elected government. You can't say the same about the armed militias. Their goal is overthrow of the government. They seek to impose their OWN law, their interpretation of the law and constitution, NOT the law as legislated by Congress, interpreted by the courts, and enforced by the Executive - which is exactly what the Constitution envisions. Most shut down orders are not unconstitutional. Certainly they are not unconstitutional just because you and an antigovernment mob say so. The government has the power to shut down and regulate businesses if they pose a safety risk. If you think a shut down order is unconstitutional, then sue. Get your day in court. And you might win! A court ruled a PA order was unconstitutional: https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/pennsylvania-federal-judge-rules-62789/ But only partially. Many other COVID restrictions were not ruled unconstitutional: https://6abc.com/health/new-covid-restrictions-in-pennsylvania-now-in-effect-what-you-need-to-know/8711395/ But the is that questions of unconstitutionality are solved by courts in the United States. That's the system of government set up by the Constitution. Absolutely nowhere does the Constitution empower a bunch of armed citizens decide these matters for themselves and threaten government officials. That's what the militias are doing, and it's the height of insanity that they view this as constitutional and patriotic. It's not, it's a threat to the Republic. STOP making these false equivalencies between the right wing domestic terrorism movement and a bunch of opportunistic looting during a race riot. |
| What was CHAZ/CHOP then? |
You mean that temporary tantrum that police cleared out once the riot drama simmered down a bit? Yeah, we should condemn that. But let's not be dumb and confuse CHOP with a real threat to the United States. |
Isn't it just amazing that we didn't need a single Proud Boy to dismantle CHOP? Not a single one. The Proud Boys and the militias are completely unnecessary to counter the scatted hippies of Antifa. What's really happening is that the Proud Boys and militias are using Antifa as a bogeyman to justify their violence. NRA does the same thing. Antifa is a marketing tool for the right wing. |
Yeah we really handled all those poorly armed Taliban members really well, didn’t we? Again, if you think Trump is a fascist why would you want to disarm the populace? Would you want Jewish people to give up their weapons to Hitler? He’s either a fascist or he isn’t. And if he is a fascist, there’s a high probability someone worse than him will be elected in the future the way society is fracturing so why put all the power in the hands of a fascist state? |
| Well, if y'all would stop shooting up schools and country music concerts, almost.no one would be taking about "taking away your guns." |
|
Person A: “Trump is a fascist and the police are an armed white supremacist force.”
Also Person A: “The government [controlled by a fascist, with laws implemented by a white supremacist force] should be the only ones with semi-automatic rifles.” Tell me how that argument makes any sense, especially to a gun owner who’s a person of color? Tell a black man living in rural Mississippi that he shouldn’t be able to own an AR-15 and to just put his family’s safety in the hands of the redneck cops in a police station that’s a 15 minute drive away. Please... |
Luckily, people like you are more common in mental institutions than political ones. Have a good life. |
When was the last time an armed militia took over a few blocks of public space. Go ahead, we will wait for your example. |
The PPs have essentially been making arguments about lawlessness. There is no widespread lawlessness among gun owners. There has been widespread lawlessness among leftist and people who affiliate almost exclusively with the Democratic party. This is the point. |
From whom or what is this black man in rural Mississippi protecting his family with that AR-15? |
