Then there are those of us who are neither white nor rich enough to easily flee. While you’re being dismissive about “ fantasies”, do you have any actual practical suggestions?

No, my plan in the event of an actual shooting war in the streets of D.C. is to (a) hide in my house, (b) try to drive to some place where there isn't an actual shooting war in the streets, or (c) just die as a result of it. I think it's extremely unlikely to happen, but I also don't have the slightest idea how to prepare for it if it does.

As someone who has survived a war that started very similarly to what is happening here today, I can tell you that it is very much possible. I hope it doesn't happen, but you'd be a total fool not to consider it a real possibility.

There will be nothing like a civil war unless the Ds control the Senate and start messing with the foundations: electoral college, adding States, packing the Court. In that case, the Red States will be tempted to secede because there will be no point to being part of the United States. Even then there won't be a Civil War because who would fight for the Democrats?

FWIW, Q's been quiet since the election (two weeks now) and there's a decent chance that leads to more splintering. The Proud Boys have broken into two (Prouder Boys?) as some decide open racism is the way to go. Could be the Civil War starters are going to turn on each other before they turn on society.

Caveat: All bets are off if a state legislature actually tries to send a rogue slate of electors or if Trump refuses to leave on January 20.
