The right for the people to own weapons so that the state doesn’t monopolize violence is not just a cause for “Trumpsters,” genius. Also, people like you suffer from the same kind of unequally American myopic thinking that the US exists outside of the world and can’t easily fall victim to an Adolf Hitler, a Franco, or a Mussolini. First of all, I don't say all cops are white supremacists, and neither do all "the same people" who want reasonable gun control laws. You talk about logic? You are living in a damn fantasy by declaring that these two groups are exactly the same. Second of all, when people talk about gun control, they aren't calling for a complete roundup of all guns. No one with real credibility says the government should have a "total monopoly." Again, you've been radicalized into thinking that Scary Antifa Commies are going to come door-to-door and take every single projectile weapon. Lies. Absolute lies. You want to keep your Glock, your shotgun, your hunting rifle? No one cares. What people are calling for things like background checks, a ban on bump stocks, a ban on extended magazines, sharper limits on AR-15s. And these calls come after gun-worshippers commit horrendous MASS KILLINGS using these exact tools. But firearm cultists like yourself successfully oppose every single one of these reforms because you're afraid of the Great Gun Confiscation that has never happened and never will. You've been duped. Third of all, yes, the government should have a near-total monopoly on weapons of war. That's what the government, military and law enforcement, are for. And if we don't like our government, it's up to the People to change it. That's the basis of our Republic, and what our Founders envisioned. What you DON'T do is check out of the political process, stock up on firearms, form a gang of paranoid self-righteous wannabe-heroes, and plot violence against the government. That's sedition. It's not a trick, I asked the same question of a very left-leaning relative who started buying guns after Trump took office because he thought he'd need to protect himself against the fascists. Thought it was stupid when he bought guns, think it's stupid when the right buys guns to protect themselves against the communists. It doesn't matter who's in charge of the government, they have more guns than you do. |

Plenty of Jews had weapons, and fought back with them against the Nazis. Didn't really help. The myth that Jews surrendered their guns and didn't resist may make this particular pro-gun argument sound stronger, but it's not true. |
