Your child is a spoiled brat

And im pretty sure if a kid was so smart and some good ole fashioned punishment came their way for doing what they do they would def consider before doing it again. I mean i know a lot of parents might think their kid is a genius just bcuz but blaming their bad behavior on a high Iq is just ridiculous.

I agree. I've only read the first couple of pages of this thread and I laugh at how often parents claimed that an outcome of their kids high IQ is bratty behavior. PUHLEEZE!!

I hate to say that I too have a smart kid (I also have a MR child too, in case someone was wondering how everyone on this board has such smart kids.) He is charming, funny, popular, loving, disobedient, sometimes lazy and gets grades well below his ability. Very frustrating. However, he NEVER has had a temper tantrum, hit me or any family member, or anyone, spit on us, swore at us, climbed on tables, etc. I don't know how anyone stands that behavior, I know I would smack him back and I have never hit either of my children. My MR child has also NEVER engaged in this violent behavior, although he also has issues of his own, of course. I guess God gives us what we can handle because that type of behavior would not be tolerated in our house. I see kids smack their parents in public, and the (usually) Moms SMILE AT THE CHILD AND TRY TO REASON WITH THEM. I figure if Mom is that clueless, she deserves what her hellacious life is going to be like.

Open, you're are absolutely right. It amazes me what parents let their kid get away, and the kids want boundaries. Do you think they want to walk all over mom and dad? Absolutely not. Great Post
