Madlax Monument Team

Bad weather and turn out day for 13u tryouts yesterday. About 30 kids but almost entirely madlax and white helmets out there.

Black Ops with combined talent from 3 + clubs and few other adds is going to look good. Monuments is not able to attract talent and will be left with fielding 26 Cap and 27 Cap kids not all bad but will be interesting.

Yeah, the Black Ops thing really knee-capped Cabell.

That may be true for 13U. Not convinced it’s the same story at 14U.

agree. If they could have all played nice for the benefit of the kids talented enough to represent the DMV as the true best of the best. Of course many would have been left out and it wouldn't have been for a lack of talent or heart. Just can't take every kid. Just the the best make up to win with maturity, heart, grit, IQ and talent... these 25 kids would have dominated. They needed a selection committee without bias. Where you used metrics/quantification and the best minds in lax to select the players within 100 miles. Oh well. Should be fun to watch.

Don’t think there was much lost by not combing with Madlax, a few good players but there is a ton of talent outside of Madlax. The Madlax players wouldn’t have added much to what is already there.

BlC has the most hold-backs who aged out. VLC got smoked by ML this Fall. And NL is non-existent. They picked up a few kids from outside those programs for sure, but my guess is they would have added a fair amount. 2/3 of middies and 2/3 poles plus the goalie.

Having said that, I would expect Black Ops to beat Madlax cause it is combining 3 clubs against essentially 1 club. At least I would hope so. If not, oh boy...

Black Ops is better than Madlax because more than half of ML's teams aged out leaving the back half of their rosters as the starters. Their older 26's and 27's are actually now on the younger side except for a couple of players and they won't add much skill. Madlax never thought there would be combination teams competing against them for players. The 14u's did actually get a couple of NL players but the 13u's are going to be a combo 26 and 27 team.

That’s not quite true re holdbacks. BLC has basically the same amount. Top 3 middies and a couple of D are as they are Mater Dei. ML has 4 or 5. I’d call it a wash. Then throw in the VLC kids where ML didn’t fill anyone in. Thus, the difference between two teams.

It basically comes down to how many teams will be allowed to advance out of east regionals. It’s not clear how many but Madlax has a decent shot.

By Memorial Day, the Monuments team will dismantle as they won't advance and then the kids will finally be able to leave MadLax for DCX, VLC, or NL. You heard it here first.

They will move to True the new big boy in DC club lacrosse

Not sure if True will be a factor, but I agree that a lot MadLax 2026 will scatter in August. You heard it here second.

Funny cause I’m hearing the same thing about VLC 25/26
