There's also more to life than fame and money. The posters accusing people of jealously must be really shallow and focused on the wrong things. GP lost her dad which is heartbreaking, and she is divorced from the dad of her kids. I don't care how rich you are, but not married to the father of your kids seems like hell to me. I am glad they figured out a way to have a civil divorce, but divorce with kids, no matter what you call it, sucks.

Fact: Original PP is the one that brought it (and her gender) up as the only descriptions of her
Opinion: I think that because that PP described her in no other way than 'jewish' and 'woman' and phrased it in a way to imply that it was ridiculous that a jewish woman would claim to be responsible for the centuries old practice of yoga (which is true, but it is true of any person, not just jewish people or women), that the original PP is anti semitic and a little misogynist to boot.

Reese Witherspoon is doing the same thing, is also gorgeous and successful and rich, and I find her likeable. Same with Kate Hudson, who also has a lifestyle brand and is from hollywood royalty.

The difference for me is those celebs and there are many more I could name, are are not condescending to their audience. Paltrow tries too hard. These kinds of essays for example that is in the OP.

No I haven't posted at all in this thread until today. I read the first page or two and was incredibly offended by the above post so read more and posted. I have not called her a WASP although prior to reading this I would have said she seemed like the whitest person in existence and would have guessed something vaguely nordic as an origin, but it would have been a shot in the dark based mostly on her hair.

I find her super super irritating but don't spend much time thinking about her, I clicked on this today because I finally read the vogue article someone had sent me where I did, in fact, find her insufferable. I did not even know she had Jewish ancestry until I read this thread and my only feelings about the subject at all are that the original OP here is anti semitic because of the way they introduced the information.

As for GP herself, I think that she frequently perpetuates lifestyle choices and hobbies that, at best, give people some artificial sense of belonging without doing harm and at worse cause people to neglect medical treatment for serious issues. I think she has done real harm in that regard, especially in regards to women's health, and that really has nothing at all to do with her looks or wealth or parents. Reading that she now delights in what she sees as an outrage cycle but is generally simply a desperate attempt by the medical community to stop women from inserting foreign objects of unknown origin into their vagina makes me more sure of her insufferability. But whatever, rich entitled people will always do these things, what drove me to post was the poster above wielding the word Jewish Woman like a slur (and no, I am not Jewish)

Neither Reese Witherspoon or Kate Hudson peddle snake oil. Reese sells home decor and clothes, she sells a lifestyle but isn't telling anyone to ignore their doctors. Same with KH, she wants you to work out and look great in athleisurewear, not do reiki

Reading comprehension isn't the strong point of many on dcum. The pp who described her as jewish—which is what she has identified herself as, was pointing out how problematic and thoroughly lacking in self awareness she was to try to take ownership of the 'mainstreamization' of yoga in America,in other words , she as a Jewish woman should know better . . Jews are not above reproach and identifying them as such isn't a problem .
