Demise of DA fallout

GA boosters are saying a league that may have 1/5 of the country's top 100 clubs by the end of the day matters. Seems reasonable that a college wouldn't ignore roughly 20% of the girls they might like to recruit. Seems reasonable that their daughter might enjoy playing in the league and have good competition, and possibly even get some exposure to college coaches - given that she plays for one of those top 100 clubs and will be playing against plenty of others in league games, showcases, and other tournaments.

One group is excited about a new opportunity for their kid. The other group is spending a lot of time telling others how worthless that opportunity is. I'm pretty comfortable with the group I'm in. You may be as well. Good for you.

Let's say that GA does get 1/5 of the top 100 clubs, which is very optimistic, and that's also assuming all those clubs retain their all their top kids(which won't happen). College recruiting budgets will be severely contracted next year because of all of the economic impacts of COVID-19, and college soccer programs will have to pick and choose which events give them the most bang for their recruiting buck. Will they choose to go to an event where the teams playing represent 80% of the top clubs or the event where the teams playing represent 20% of the top clubs? Easy choice. ECNL exposure >>>> GA exposure by a landslide.

Again, why is it so important to you to tell us that?

Because your dumb ass is bragging about how wonderful the college exposure is for your new league. If you don't want to discuss it, don't post about it.

Now I'm a dumb ass. Someone is getting upset.

As I recall, this was all started with giddy ECNL boosters reposting tweeted rumors of DA's demise and then piling on. The DA people have simply responded with facts about what happened and what is happening. They definitely didn't start the crapstorm though.
LOL. People piled on to the denialists who put their head in the sand when it became more an more clear that the rumors of DA's demise were true. They piled on even more on those denialists after the rumors came true. The people who piled on(ECNL people) had the facts correct, and the denialists(DA people) has had the facts wrong. Your revisionist history storytelling is hilarious.

Still not really understanding why it makes you happy to dance on the grave of a children's sports program, or talk about how inferior a new program is.

Truth be told, this rivalry goes back to when DA was started, and the crowing was the other way around. What comes around, goes around.

Given the title of this thread, this might not be the one to frequent if you're looking for something other than grave dancing.

The poster is just an angry person. I feel bad for their kids. I can always tell it is the same person because they only know how to insult to make a point and they have the grammar of a 6th grader.

I wasn't around for that (kid's too young), so maybe that's why the glee seems so strange to me. All the same, what comes around only goes around if you send it back. Just because one group of people cheers when something for kids fails, doesn't mean you have to. I'm now sitting on the side of hearing the cheering, and I'm not thinking about how I can't wait for all those other girls to lose their league.

And what if the college exposure in GA is just fine? How does that affect you, your kid or your kids league? How are you actually hurt by another league? Are other kids not entitled to have an opportunity to showcase and be recruited for college?

You're attempting to take the "high road" while justifying your choice to others. This is a discussion board. Mostly a ranting board.

The problem is that we don't need a 2nd national league. You ex-DA parents don't understand that but because of your ego (my kid can't play EDP or CCL), you are blinded to the sales pitch from your club owners. By next year, the GA League will be a league where you drive 2+ hours to play an inferior tram.

If you were smart, you would have your DD tryout for an ECNL club. If that didn't work, you would move your DD to a strong EDP or CCL team that competes in the top brackets at the top showcases.

We need to consolidate talent not create anther league with insane travel demands.

That is true. One could take the high road, however when GA folks come back with how ECNL has screwed them/made bad decisions/is a poor league, etc. they veer back off the high road and into the weeds. Your emotions are natural and are what fuels this go-round.

Frankly, I think GA is a fine idea, and I'll be curious to see how it plays out. I don't think a single elite league is very good for anyone. The ebb and flow of youth soccer will go on long after my daughters age out.

Please ECNL man, tell me how I can have my DD try out. I would have her do it in a second, but oh, the world is shut down.

02/03: Composite age group. They could/may/probably will stay because they have already committed. Why leave..unless to join Bryc /Mclean and go for a national title or something. I don't know

04: Will stay because they are in the middle of their recruiting and Bobby holds the keys. They will not abandon that.

05: Hummm. Don't know

06 and below: Bail out. If not now, next year.

Bobby holds the keys to recruiting? He has not, in fact, helped one child at FCV get an offer. He has no connections. He is not well liked among the coaching community. I am a parent of an 03 player at FCV and for every 03 and 02 player there.. only christian or the player has had any involvement in recruiting. Bobby's lack of recruiting help is the #1 issue for the parents (not the players) but the parents.

Totally disagree with the PP. Bobby was a key figure in my daughter’s recruitment to a D1 college. Christian, who I like very much, did not.

FCV is going ECNL. Details should be announced within a week.
