Any colleges not hated by someone here? Any college universally loved?

I like Tulane but there is a hater here. It seems like this forum is a playa haters’ ball.

I really do not understand the haters. Most of the people responding are parents of students. Chances are your info is out of date or just not relevant to today’s youth’s.

+1

While it is true your average Joe hasn't heard of Williams and the others, who the heck wants to be an Average Joe?

I’m sure Tulane is a fine school but their recruitment/admissions practices really turned us off. They sent DD email after email after postcard in the mail after postcard in the mail. Blew smoke up her butt that “your incredible academic achievements have qualified you for priority consideration!! Apply today and you won’t have to pay an application fee and will automatically be considered for merit scholarships and you will be able to do an alumni interview!” come to find out after 30 seconds on google that no one pays an app fee, everyone is automatically considered for merit, and everyone can do an alumni interview. It just all seemed so desperate. A ploy to get tons of people to apply so they can lower their acceptance rate and look more selective and move up on US news. Stupid.

Universally loved?

Well, except by Penn Staters.

I don't hate it, but I don't understand why it gets as much DCUM attention as it does.

College Park has all the charm of a strip mall in Laurel

While this is true, UVA is in the land of Confederates.

Let me guess, you're posting from D.C. or Maryland and don't know that both were south of the Mason-Dixon line, right? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mason%E2%80%93Dixon_line

Yet only 1 has confederate statues.

Another has a statue of a turtle. Much better.

What are top SLAC?

Of course no one has heard of top SLACs. This is DCUM, the center of ignorance in the universe.

Many think LACs only do arts and humanities. So I posted a while ago the amount of STEM at various schools, Ivys, top 20s, and SLACs and found my SLAC alma mater had percentage of STEM majors closer to the more technically-oriented elites like Cornell. Oh well, what else should I expect from DCUM?

Okay okay, you hate DCUM yet here you are... posting.

So name the top SLACs?

ha - noone cares except others who went to SLACs, too! Keep telling yourself it's a badge of honor.

No one on here probably knows what I am talking about about but my ds applied to and was accepted to Juniata in November or so. They proceeded to harass him with postcards and emails for the next six months. Literally he refused to go there after that

If your school was an expensive party school in a fetid, crime-ridden swamp, you might try to cajole some kids into applying as well.

And nobody really cares about SLACs, their alum network is so small, they're fairly obscure outside of New England, so they don't warrant animated debate.

People familiar with American colleges and universities can find fault with any of them.

MIT is full of HYPS rejects and the students look like they are auditioning for The Big Bang Theory.

Stanford campus looks like a giant Taco Bell and is in an overpriced, ugly town.

Dartmouth is in the middle of nowhere and there's a campus culture of heavy drinking and sexual assault.

Could hurl insults at any other school given the opportunity. Given DCUM's readership, this thread is an exercise in futility.

This is the same poster who's always going on about how Harvard is in a category of its own. She's posted the taco bell thing numerous times as well.

It seems your radar is broken.

Although Harvard is in a category of its own. No other university gets away with coasting on its reputation and brand at the expense of its undergraduate students like Harvard does.

Yep, you've posted these things before too.

It’s well known, so of course noted by many posters.

I meant your comparing the Stanford campus' Spanish architecture to Taco Bell.

I don't hate DCUM, just most of the posters.
Top SLACs? Just look at USNWR, which of course, is your Bible.

Yes, only one poster has ever made that comparison, whether on DCUM or elsewhere.
