Any colleges not hated by someone here? Any college universally loved?

Rice has already been dismissed as an Ivy-wannabe with unbearable heat in a genuinely tacky city - Houston.

And if you think Sewanee or any other school with a bunch of Southern frat boys gets a pass on DCUM, you are not doing your reading. Take any thread on Duke or Vandy and divided by four to adjust for size and that’s DCUM’s verdict on Sewanee. Rhodes might fare better just because fewer have heard of it.

So sorry to hear that. DD is graduating from Rice today (remotely) and had a wonderful college experience. She is NOT premed, btw.

I didn’t like the Rice campus. The grounds seemed overly manicured and the buildings looked like something an oligarch from Kazakhstan would commission. But congratulations to your DD on finishing her degree.

Heavy drinkers who couldn’t get into Michigan in a state that’s slashed education budgets for years?

So, growing up in Madison, I was so drunk senior year in high school that I actually applied to the wrong college.

Not too big; not too small
Not too rural; not too urban
Not southern; not northern
Not too competitive; not too easy
Good merit; respectable departments
Beautiful campus

It has a great college town...but the admitted students tour was enough for my DD to cross it off the list. The tour guides basically said this is a place where an average HS student can excel. Of course, Newark is a great college town...but for us, it was a Meh experience.

The students who “excel” at Delaware typically don’t excel anywhere else later. But a few years where all the 5s think they are 8s and 9s may not be the worst thing in the world.

They excel in Delaware - fantastic network for politicians and business owners in DE.

Unless you’re old and wrinkly and can’t afford anywhere better to spend your final days, you need a good excuse to live in Delaware.

You again? What’s wrong? Didn’t get in? Wisconsin has 50,000 students and the vast majority did not even apply to Michigan. And heavy drinkers? What College doesn’t have the? Your beloved Michigan certainly has its fair share, as does the vaunted UVA.

Wisconsin has 50,000 students and you're trying to make it out to be some "universally loved" bastion of selectivity? It seems our search must go on or be abandoned.

And, please, lay off the six-pack before you post next time. You might not undercut yourself so badly.

Haters gone hate for sure. You cannot argue the beauty of ND...it makes the lists of most beautiful campuses time after time.

We just did. It’s not that attractive. And with Jesus presiding over a football stadium its most notable feature it’s even somewhat ridiculous.

Well you are wrong. The lists are all pretty consistent with ND always close to the top. You clearly have an issue with Jesus and Catholics. Just googled most beautiful campuses and first list that came up was this one. https://www.timeshighereducation.com/student/best-universities/10-most-beautiful-universities-us

ND is #7 in case you are too lazy to click the link.

Catholics are responsible for some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. Too bad it can't be found in South Bend.
