Any colleges not hated by someone here? Any college universally loved?

Perhaps among Catholics who actually think being known for Touchdown Jesus is a good thing.

Oh, and despite what Pete Buttigieg might want you to believe, South Bend is still a dump. [/quot

+1. Didn't even consider it for my kids. I don't want them saddled with the Catholic baggage for life. And it's in South Bend.

Not too big; not too small
Not too rural; not too urban
Not southern; not northern
Not too competitive; not too easy
Good merit; respectable departments
Beautiful campus

It has a great college town...but the admitted students tour was enough for my DD to cross it off the list. The tour guides basically said this is a place where an average HS student can excel. Of course, Newark is a great college town...but for us, it was a Meh experience.

The students who “excel” at Delaware typically don’t excel anywhere else later. But a few years where all the 5s think they are 8s and 9s may not be the worst thing in the world.

Well one of its graduates might be your president soon.

A lot of UD grads go into financial jobs in NYC. A lot of UD grads go into chemical engineering jobs. The RN program is extremely difficult to get into at UD. A lot of business grads work in the Philadelphia and NYC arenas.
My experience is most of my fellow students were in the top 10% of their public high school classes. Most kids are public school kids from better areas, think Chestnut Hill and Media PA. The Wilmington area feeds the college. I rarely
met anyone from Dover or Lower Delaware. Most students are from suburban areas. I was a kid from rural Maryland from a country background and I was an outlier. I'm not sure about recent stats but around 50% of students are
out of state.

There were a fair number of students from what I'd call elite Wilmington and Philadelphia families but I was from such a rural background that I really did not realize some of my fellow dorm hall mates were from such elite
families until after I graduated.

Delaware is not much different than Maryland. Neither is exactly a dream school and the student bodies seem mostly to be a mix of locals and kids from New Jersey who couldn’t stomach Rutgers. Blah.

St. Olaf? I "hate" it. Their fight song cites my alma mater in an unfavorable way.

No school is going to be loved by everyone. No school is going to be hated by everyone. It's almost like people are different with different needs and ambitions.

Well, that was just unnecessary. DCUM has been kicking Penn State around for years.

And despite the fact "South Bend is still a dump," people still love Notre Dame. As for Touchdown Jesus, yes, well known, but the golden dome is really the iconic building of ND. Besides being know for its beautiful architecture, it is also known as a top academic institution consistently in the USNWR top 20.

The only thing likable about Notre Dame was Muffet McGraw, but she’s leaving. Otherwise, no thanks. If you think it’s beautiful, you haven’t been out much.

Duke is loved by the kids these days. It's passe to hate Duke. They are not even that great at basketball anymore and it's not fun anymore.

From a distance the windows on the domed building look like the faces of a bunch of fraternity brothers in the second video. Anyway just because ND looks better than Holy Cross or Villanova doesn’t mean it’s beautiful.

Nice effort at a hot take but the hatred for Duke still runs deep.
