Again, no one ever said they were bothered by the mixed races. We've said several of these couples make no sense, and they don't. Frankly, Father Gabriel with anyone at all makes no sense because he is so incredibly unappealing and weird. And that goes for the newest odd coupling of Gabriel with Rosita. Ugh. Rick and Michonne didn't make sense because, as you said, they were warrior equals. There was no romantic chemistry between them at all, and then all of a sudden, they were in bed together. No, I didn't think Rick was going to start "banging Carol," as you so charmingly put it. He and Carol wouldn't have made any sense either. They were like coworkers, not romantic partners. Of course people are going to hook up during the apocalypse. It would just be nice if there was some actual chemistry between them too. |
| I didn’t see the badass 7-year old gun slinging, sword carrying Judith in the last episode.... |

The show foundered once they got to Alexandria. The new characters were just not interesting or likeable -Jesse, Deanna, Spencer. The Negan conflict went on too long. Glen Dumpster.
I think the problem was Durabont leaving. I think he had the show planned out through Terminus or the Church/Bob's leg (what a moment). It just got too slow after that. I think Andrew Lincoln decided to leave because they killed Carl. I think they killed Merle back when they did because he couldn't get along with Danai Gurirra. When Durabont left, they also decided to kill Andrea, give her storylines to Danai, and Danai wanted the Merle actor gone. I got this from an interview done by Lori Holder plus a video of Dania and the Merle actor at a comic con or something, you can tell she doesn't like him. |
Daryl freed him and told him to never come back. |
Andrew Lincoln did not leave because they killed Carl. He had already decided to leave before the cast found out Carl was going to die, and then agreed to stay on longer because he felt both of them dying at the same time would be too much for the show and he didn’t want to take away from the impact of Carl’s death (reading between the lines, it sounds like he might have felt bad for Chandler Riggs in that whole mess). |
Given how Darabont apparently abused the cast, crew and production team (see the emails disclosed in his lawsuit against AMC), I don't blame them for firing him. But either way, I think it's a stretch to give him full credit for storylines through season five given that he was fired while season two was still in production, and given that most of the storylines were adapted from the comic books and were not original material. Andrea was killed because the showrunner after Darabont, Glen Mazzara, decided he wanted a big dramatic end to the season. The sharp departure from the comic book material apparently enraged Robert Kirkman, who is very protective of the source material, and he pushed for Mazzara's ouster (which was already being contemplated because of how Mazzara botched season three production; production had been shut down multiple times because Mazzara struggled with how to develop the story and thus episode scripts couldn't be completed in time for filming). The decision to give Andrea's story arc to Michonne was made after season three was done as part of the post-Mazarra clean-up effort, which was also after Merle had been killed. So I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Danai Gurira had the clout or the desire to get Michael Rooker fired. |
| Good grief, how do you all know these details? Is there a link or something you could share? |

Has TWD jumped the shark?
episode 15 ends with the "fair" and episode 16 starts with everyone leaving and the town burned. with them all walking through a snow storm for the entire episode. I get that every now and again you gotta jump back in time to tell a little bit of back story. but damn this spring season has spent more time jumping around its so frustrating. I don't mind having to think a little bit about a tv show, but i might have to start taking notes Did someone at AMC push play on the wrong episode... now I guess I gotta hang around to figure out why they lost the town... |
And it ended in the spring too? The whispers scene was no longer in the winter. I was just saying how I wished there was a time stamp at the beginning of each scene. It also goes from night to day from one scene to the next. Like folks are walking at night and all of the sudden its day but no time seems to have passed. |

We just binged the last half season all at once over the course of a week. I’d say I was bored about half the time. But there were a few stretches I didn’t hate it.
Judith is supposed to be 10? She acts like a 7yo. And I just looked up the actress. She’s 12. Before the time jump she was supposed to be 4? But she acted like a 2yo. |
Not necessarily. The whisperers migrate like animals to warmer regions during the winter. That last scene with alpha and beta could be the same timeframe but much further south than Virginia. |
This is correct. In recaps of the finale, it was explained that they had migrated south and weren't present when Daryl and the others cut through their territory. |
|
Was that Beta who was frozen in the pond when Lydia was going to have him bite her arm?
We thought it was Beta for sure until he popped up at the end. |
I thought so for a second, too, but no. |
| I imagine decapitated walkers at the boundary line will be a pretty clear indication that they crossed. Or did they go back to try and clean up the path of bodies they left behind? |
