I think the problem was Durabont leaving. I think he had the show planned out through Terminus or the Church/Bob's leg (what a moment).  It just got too slow after that.

I think Andrew Lincoln decided to leave because they killed Carl.

I think they killed Merle back when they did because he couldn't get along with Danai Gurirra.  When Durabont left, they also decided to kill Andrea, give her storylines to Danai, and Danai wanted the Merle actor gone.  I got this from an interview done by Lori Holder plus a video of Dania and the Merle actor at a comic con or something, you can tell she doesn't like him.[/quote]

Andrew Lincoln did not leave because they killed Carl. He had already decided to leave before the cast found out Carl was going to die, and then agreed to stay on longer because he felt both of them dying at the same time would be too much for the show and he didn’t want to take away from the impact of Carl’s death (reading between the lines, it sounds like he might have felt bad for Chandler Riggs in that whole mess).[/quote]
