Doug Jones Wins

The GOP has been demoralized. Hard to anticipate exactly how much the election yesterday has them thinking about their individual futures, and with some Republicans already having spoken out against the tax plan, they wouldn't be standing alone.

Might just make all the difference, even if Jones isn't seated yet.

A one-point win against a pedophile and multiple sexual assaulter sure has energized the liberals.

I guess Rs didn't learn from the 2016 election. When you have a deeply flawed candidate (HRC), the impossible can happen (Trump winning).

I think it's more like, most Rs (white) in AL are willing to vote for a pedophile and multiple sexual assaulter. AL is mostly R, or I guess you've been living under a rock and didn't know that.

Lol. I see a Repubublican revolt against Trump coming very soon.

I think Republicans will lose seats in 2018. I also think Trump may not win re-election in 2020.

Trump is only slightly more popular than diahrrea now. If Dems field someone halfway decent and likable (ie someone without Hillary's decades of baggage), they should win easily.

Actually I heard Norovirus took the lead by 2 points.

A small win, is still a win. Or do you not believe that every single vote matters in America?

We can't help it the people of the historically red state of Alabama where the last democrat to unseat a Republican was something like 25 years ago has voters who still live in 1840. Considering how Trump carried Alabama this actually IS a significant win.

Sad when it's surprising outcome.

Nothing to do with Trump. You won against a pedophile and sensual assaulter by one lousy point, not much cause for celebration.

I can't remember for sure but as I was watching the exit polls I think Trump's unfavorables and Moore's unfavorables were pretty much neck and neck.

To quote the great Sarah Sanders... "The people of Alabama have spoken and when they decisively voted in Doug Jones to represent them".

I mean, if this works for her defense of our atrocious President, why not use it with Jones.

He won. A win is a win.

The reason I originally endorsed Luther Strange (and his numbers went up mightily), is that I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election. I was right! Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!

Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!

Obama is more popular in AL than Trump. So yea, maybe it has nothing to do with Trump.

http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/11/obama_more_popular_in_alabama.html

A new Fox News poll shows former President Barack Obama - a Democrat - has a higher favorability rating than Trump, a Republican in his first term in the White House.

The poll shows Obama with a 52 percent favorability rating in Alabama compared to Trump's 49 percent. Obama had a 45 percent unfavorable rating in the poll; Trump had a 48 percent unfavorable rating.

When I read this on some headline, I googled "fox news poll alabama trump obama", and there is a list of news sites that has this article, but they are all on MSM/liberal news sites. Interestingly, I can't find this on Fox's own news site.

This was a win for gop. Just like the failure of Obamacare reform was a win for trump.
