Doug Jones Wins

This victory for Doug Jones speaks volumes of why it is so important for white people to not simply shrug their shoulders and say, “Meh” about issues like gerrymandering and police intimidation at polling stations and insufficient equipment and staffing causing long lines at polling stations and biased voter ID laws...white people cannot afford to tolerate the existence of these forms of systemic racism that inhibit African-Americans from exercising their Constitutional right because voter suppression affects white folks too. Had the Black Belt in Alabama been suppressed like they usually are, had black grassroots organizations not put forth the energy and effort to make sure black voices were heard this Alabama Senate race would have had an entirely different outcome.

Voter ID isn’t voter suppression. If there is voter suppression, it needs to be quelled immediately. I didn’t hear anyone complaining about the purged Brooklyn voters in last year’s primary but, that was Hillary v Bernie. And F Bernie amirite????

+1

Sorry you have so many white a-holes near you.

No shortage of black a-holes in this country, either. Or am I not allowed to say that because it's racist? (I notice we're only allowed to make denigrating remarks against whites.)

Sorry about the white a-hole snowflakes on this forum, too.

I have to be honest, I thought any polls showing Jones ahead were "fake news" to drive up ratings. I cannot believe Moore lost (but I'm happy).

Here's my take on this....

Biggest losers: Republican's running in 2018 and Donald Trump (everyone he supports seems to lose).
Biggest Winner: Luther Strange who will now get to run against a Democratic incumbent in Alabama and win his seat back in the next regular election. I wouldn't be surprised if he had actually hoped that the Democrat would win. This almost guarantees his next win.

That's not what the Florida GOP said. Also not what the courts said about NC. But hey, if you really want ID, put your money where your mouth is. Every post office should be able to process a Federal Photo ID. Go for it.

I think Republicans will lose seats in 2018. I also think Trump may not win re-election in 2020.

Your petty nitpicking doesn’t detract from the overall advisory. The prohibition and/or opposition of African-Americans exercising their Constitutional right to vote has very damaging consequences that extend well beyond the black citizens being denied. Voter suppression in all its forms is counterproductive to democracy and damaging to the country as a whole.

Trump is only slightly more popular than diahrrea now. If Dems field someone halfway decent and likable (ie someone without Hillary's decades of baggage), they should win easily.

Very well said, but these people just can't be reasoned with. They are simply assholes. Dirty white assholes.

It's why Trump keeps talking about Clinton running again.

So the immediate issue is, can the Republican's slam the tax plan through conference quick enough to vote on it before Jones takes his seat, will the House just vote on the Senate plan, or will the entire plan to cut taxes be dead?
