Antwan Wilson to be announced as new Chancellor

Serious question, why wasn't Dr. Alexander considered? She is on the ground visiting schools and is highly credentialed. Has a proven track record. If anyone would have been a top candidate from the inside it should have been here. And no, this is NOT Amanda.

Interesting story about Oakland schools on the radio today. Here and Now, I think. They talked about how the schools are not very diverse. Not really a story about voucher/charter/traditional though. But interesting from a Dc point of view since Mr. Wilson may be coming to town.

There is a more interesting conversation to be had about why his salary jumped a whopping 30% from 2014 to 2015 (search for "Antwan Wilson" in the transparentcalifornia.com database and you'll find two salary records). Agreed!!!!! Top-notch principal, smart, an earned Doctorate. She will probably be the de facto Chancellor. Could this have been a case of sexism?

And, in any case, it is Bowser's head on the line for such a murky hiring process and questionable result.

Antwan deserves a chance to prove what he can do, and I do hope he improves public schools for all.

My friends in the Bay Area were shocked and irate about that contrast. I guess the guy wanted to leave town soon, and was able to dupe Bowser.

In one of his interviews he said he wasn't looking and Browser call him up.

Does anyone think that the chancellor search was a true 'equal opportunity' search? Much of the opposition to Michelle Rhee stemmed not from her decisions and policies but rather from the view publicly expressed even by some DC public officials that as an Asian-American woman she did not "look like DCPS." Bowser was not going to rock that boat.
