How is that apparent? Two black chancellors does not equal discrimination |
| That's not the point. The trouble is the pernicious notion, espoused by many residents and even some elected officials, that the chancellor needs to be black because a majority of DCPS families are black. |
What about the Chief of Police? |
Proof please. I know many of our councilmembers and this is bullshit. |
| The Oakland CA schools are a loser school system. And DC just hired the guy who 'ran' Oakland Sad. |
Nothing new there, yet people continue to move here. |
| Yea, and newcomers outside Upper NW continue to bail on public schools in droves somewhere between K and 9th grade. Hurrah! |
Guess that DCPS wanted an "urban" chancellor. But did they have to choose the head of one of the worst public school systems in the country?! |
Not really; Charters are still public schools! |
What about the State Superintendent of Education? |
What about the Deputy Mayor for Education? |
| And what about Katherine Bradley? |
Exactly. You get one black person in an appointed or hired position (in a city of 50% black) and everyone screams reverse racism. Bullshit. |
The problem is that on paper he appears weakly qualified and lacking sufficient experience. So we can't come up with any other good reason to explain his hiring. |
Actually, Washington DC is now less than 50% black and falling. AntWan's qualifications are suspect. Short on experience and his most recent gig has been at the top of one of the country's worst school systems. |
