What about the Chief of Police?

What about the State Superintendent of Education?

The acting chief of police, Peter Newsham, is highly respected. He's also white. Let's see who Bowser's permanent hire is.

Exactly. You get one black person in an appointed or hired position (in a city of 50% black) and everyone screams reverse racism. Bullshit.

The problem is that on paper he appears weakly qualified and lacking sufficient experience. So we can't come up with any other good reason to explain his hiring.

To whom? The DCUM crowed? Clearly Bowser thought otherwise.

Clearly. And clearly I question her judgment.

This is sarcasm right. Peter newsham is a wife beater. He beat his ex-wife and left her with a broken jaw. He beat his then -girlfriend, a news reporter, and left bruises. Newsham, as the Asst Chief of Detectives, had an 11year old girl arrested for filing a false police report. The child had been gang raped, but because she changed her story he had an 11year old ,traumatized child arrested. He also cost the city over 15 million dollars in legal cost because he ordered the hog tying and arrest of protesters. Yes, he ordered MPD police offers to hog tie and detain the world bank protesters. How would you feel if you were any of those victims? You either think white people are respected simply because of the color of their skin, or you are just damn ignorant. Follow the news sometimes. The local news did a big story on his antics less than a month ago. This is just what's been reported and out in the open, so you know there's more behind that shield of silent blue. Jeeze, respected. Oh, and by the time that girls lawyers finish with the city, Newsham would have cost the tax payers another sweet million.

Of course you do. She's black and he's black. Why would you not question her judgment.

Mayor "Marion" Bowser has been a huge disappointment for the city. Neither particularly bright nor ethical.

It is pretty obvious to anyone in education, even in pro-charter reform circles, that there are dozens of better qualified candidates that Mr. Wilson. And most of them would welcome a serious offer by DCPS.

Now, whether he was selected because of his skin color or funny first name or handsome clothing, only Ms. Bowner knows, because it was she and she alone who made the decision.

Try the explanation that he will do the bidding of the big- money Broad Institute billionaires.

That information on Newsham is irrelevant since he's white.

Well it is kind of obvious that white is right regardless of any and everything else. If Antwan Wilson was white there would not be almost twenty pages of hand ringing. Peter Newsham's unsavory acts have been on the six o'clock news and DCUM doesn't care. White "liberal" DC at its hypocritical best.

I feel as though Mr. Wilson is thinly qualified for the job of running all DC schools. I think Jennie Niles and Katherine Bradley are thinly qualified as well, even though they have impressive degrees. In my view, it's not a matter of race.

Thinly qualified officials are hired (in Bradley's case, not sure she was actually hired, but whatever) bc they're down with advancing an agenda based on testing and "reform". LEAP!!! Surprise, it doesn't "work." The churn continues.

I guess most dcum children will be okay. Somehow. I'm a little worried about the impoverished children who make up most of the DCPS population.

Bradley has no job with DC government.

Jennie Niles sets policies for all DC schools and supervises the chancellor but has other responsibilities too (DPR). Wilson will have his hands full with DCPS.

Happy my own kids are in charters and thus are insulated from some of this.

Does John Davis have better qualifications? Why wasn't he selected?
