Let's have the abortion talk here. Right here. This thread.

All we should do is:

"Live and let live."

Just like we do for the baby seals, and the other creatures of the universe.

NON-VIOLENCE is the way to go!

And when it comes time for some woman to have the baby and want child support, who does she look to? The father.

Funny how when the Father isn't *needed* his rights dont mean a single thing.

So he should have the right to compel her to continue a pregnancy against her wishes? Should someone have the right to force me to donate a kidney without my consent?

Last I checked, it takes two to make a baby. It doesnt take two to make a kidney.

Does he also have the right force her to abort? Since it's his body and his choice to make, after all...

Are rapists owed the same right to choose? How about if the father is a family member? Does he get to decide that his daughter/niece/sister has to continue the pregnancy?

No one should make anyone hurt/terminate a living thing, unless it's a cancer growth.

Nice try, but the majority of the women out getting abortions are using it as a form of birth control. (See previous pages in this thread) "I've had 3 abortions...WEEEE!! bring 'em on!...I had a vacation scheduled in June-baby would have been due in May, I couldn't get my beach body back..Sooooo"

I feel like this thread just devolved from discussion to throwing daggers. A PP's point about providing education/other options to reduce unwanted pregnancies - and thus reduce abortions - was spot on and, IMHO, bridges the rhetoric divide.

For those of us here who've had abortions, which piece of information (education) do you wish you had, that might have avoided your abortion?

Nice try, but you dodged the question. I know it's very convenient to assume women make the decision to abortion cavalierly. But at the end of the day, I trust women to make the best choice for themselves and their family. I don't presume to know what's in every woman's mind as she makes this personal, private decision.

But you seem to prefer that the father gets the choice. So again, if the sex wasn't consentual and the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest, does he still get the final say?

That was me, and thank you. Unfortunately, I find those points often fall on deaf ears. It's easier to portray women as reckless, careless, irresponsible... makes it easier to demonize.

Where the hell did that come from? I think you are referencing my post noting that "pro-lifers" think that late-term abortions are common and due to superficial reasons like you mention. Late-term abortions are most certainly not common or trivial, and there are several links above to very personal stories of terrible things that went wrong to necessitate those mothers' procedures. But thanks for proving my point.

Who said anything about a late term abortion? I was talking about attitudes towards abortions in general.

Hey pro-lifers...what about in the instance of rape? A women is made to have sex against her will, she gets pregnant and she is supposed to want to keep this child and give it a great life? Do you really, HONESTLY think that child will have a good life? Every moment she is pregnant, she will be reminded of what happened to her. Every moment of that child's life, she will see nothing but that event happen over and over again. It was NOT her choice to get pregnant or have sex...so how do your ideals make that okay?
