If you are in the late 30-40's age range with young kids do you look your age?

When will people learn that saying "OMG you look so much younger" or "O wow I thought you were ____ (enter an age 7 years below the age they know you are)" are COMMON courtesy compliments and truly mean nothing. Its another way of saying you looking great. Sorry to break your bubble but people don't think you are 31 when you are 44, they just don't.

+1
No one looks 10-15 years younger without medical intervention. You just look good for your age.

My sister is an obgyn and I had to have her weigh in since she sees dozens of women a day and knows their DOB. She said she does not have a single solitary patient over 22 years of age who looks less than within 3 years of their true age. Not one. She actually guesses the age before she reviews their chart and has only had elderly women suprise her. Women 75+ who have spent a lifetime exercising. She said it's their quick movements and sharp communication skills that make them look young.

Lools like DCUM is full of unicorns who drink oit of the fountain of youth.

(Think Vanessa Williams) and I will tell you that I probably look only 2-3 years younger than all of my white friends who are around my age. At 36 I have mild crows feet. All of my AA friends who are the color of Michelle Obama or darker are all aging far better than me. Far better!! I eat better than all of them, I exercise and I don't wear makeup daily as they do...yet they are fairing a lot better than me in this area. I'm also much smaller than them, perhaps this plays a role?

Are you kidding me??? Red heads age the fastest--crinkle, wrinkle, weather. It's their fair skin.

My family are genetic freaks like Rob Lowe. Age very well. People peg my 72-year old dad around 58-60 tops. My siblings all look much younger than their ages. I am placed younger...not 20s for sure--but late 30s

I do have a 46 year old friend that TRULY looks 35 tops. I thought I was older than her for so long. I was shocked to find her true age.

It's rare though!

My mom lost 80 lbs and now people think she's DD's mom instead of grandmom. She's 51 but looks 10 years younger now. We're AA.

My dad's side looks very young, on average. My aunt and uncles look early to mid 30s in their mid 40s. I get a kick out of people meeting my 24yo brother. Last year, someone thought he was 14/15. He hates it because it makes it harder to meet women.lol I'm 30 and think I look like a nice version of 30, though I often am told I look mid-20s. I remember this Vietnamese lady told me I looked have a Prek aged child. I told her my age and she said she thought I was no older than 24.

What I really believe is more people than ever today are aging prematurely. So if you look fit/petite, it is assumed that you must be younger than a certain age.

PP here...it should read "this Vietnamese lady told me that I looked too young to have a Prek aged child".

The only time someone thought I was much younger was when I was 22 and a dentist refused to bleach my teeth saying that I need to be at least 18. I was not amused.
I look my age and it's ok. I am yet to meet a mature woman who looks much younger.

This country is full of women who don't know how to care for their skin, hair, and bodies naturally without resorting to plastic surgery.

Oddly enough, instead of asking well-aging women what their secrets are, American women would rather believe that there is no way to stay really youthful looking.

This is 100 percent BS. Do you know how many billion of dollars American women are spending on products and services to enhance their looks? Just on DCUM there are dozens of threads on beauty secrets. The problem is that most of looking "really youthful" is genetic, not a matter of self care.

I think it is a little of both. My genetics could only carry me so far, so I have been faithful to my night time/day time regime. I don't know if I look younger. People have commented that I do, but according to DCUM, they are just being nice. I do know that I look really good for my age.

I look my age. When I was in my early 30s and younger, I looked young for my age, but I really don't think that's the case anymore. Fair English skin, hardly any sunscreen until my 20s, pregnancy weight gain/loss in my very late 30s...it's all taken a toll.

I am early 40s and I believe I look my age. I can see the changes in my face in the last few years. But I'm healthy and my kids are great fun, so fuck it!

Some one on DCUM is really pissed that other people look younger than their age.

There's what 4 different threads on this topic.

She must look truly horrible.
