Yes, and I'm ok with it.
I'm happy and at a great stage of my life. I think my look reflects that. |
Staying thin only works for so long. At a certain age, if you're too thin, you look older. At least for white women, the saying goes after 40 you have to choose your ass or your face. |
+1 only I am 40 and have a 9 year old. I am starting to get wrinkles around my eyes but in general I think I look, dress, feel and act younger than my age. Most people think I am mid 40s. I recently went out with a friend to celebrate her birthday - we were acquaintances years ago and have become closer friends since I moved back to her town. I was shocked to hear she was turning 52. She is slim and petite and has perfect skin and also looks and acts young - I thought she was 40 like me!! |
+1 This post cracked me up...so true! For the Asians out there...the aging process applies to you too. 38 yr old Asian female here with a 3 yr old with a Petite frame (5'3", 100 lbs)..just finished a full time graduate program where most of my female classmates were in their mid-to late-20s. I know I did not look their age, despite hearing the "oh you look so young for your age" comments. |
infact |
| I think red heads age a lot slower. I'm AA, but I am very light. (Think Vanessa Williams) and I will tell you that I probably look only 2-3 years younger than all of my white friends who are around my age. At 36 I have mild crows feet. All of my AA friends who are the color of Michelle Obama or darker are all aging far better than me. Far better!! I eat better than all of them, I exercise and I don't wear makeup daily as they do...yet they are fairing a lot better than me in this area. I'm also much smaller than them, perhaps this plays a role? |

Red heads probably learn early on to stay out of the sun because they burn so easily and don't really tan. So they have a long history of seeking shade, wearing hats, sunscreen, etc. That makes them age much slower than those of us who tan easily and are sun worshipers.
Conversely, women with darker skin tones like Michelle Obama don't suffer from sun damage like fairer skinned women. As a result, they can enjoy the sun and still age slowly. |
People kindly say I look young and I get carded all the time but I know I look old. 41, and looking it . I've aged ten years since my child was born 5 years ago!
|
| I'm 39 with a 2 and 4 year old. I still get carded. |
| Yes, I do, and it annoys the crap out of me when women say they don't. Of course you don't think you do. And half the time people say oooo you look so young they are being nice. Get over yourself. |
ha, plus a thousand. I am 35, two kids, pre kids weight and I look busted, dude. I'm tired. And I work full time. I keep it together, hair nails, etc., but then I see a picture of me when I was 28 and I do a double take. I was hot. Now I am a nice mid thirties looking lady. And newsflash -- that's okay. It really is. |
So does my grandma. Most places have a policy that they card anyone and everyone. This is not special. I can ASSure you, you do not look under 30, let alone 21. Stop embarrassing yourself. |
I'm 31 but people say i look 18/20 , i have a baby face
|
Why are you so bitchy? I a got carded yesterday and no, they don't card everyone because I was the only one in my group who got carded. We all had a fun laugh. Their are a lot of women who look young for their age, just like their are a lot of women who look old for their age. Get over it! |
| Before you get all snarky: there. |
