If you are in the late 30-40's age range with young kids do you look your age?

I look at least 13. People think I had my baby at 8 years of age. Imagine how complimented I feel. I'm just a young chickadee.

+1. I always say someone looks younger even if they really don't. It's not like I'm going to say they look their age. I'm also of the camp that it's better to say something nice than to not say anything at all.

+2, I literally say this to anyone over 40 because I feel like they probably need the boost.

I have meant it maybe once (for a black lady who really did not look 41, but more like 30) and not meant it like 10,000 of the times I've said it.

I do this too but if someone legitimately looks younger I compliment them as well. Most people don't actually look younger but there are some people who do look shockingly young.

Haha. I went to my 30th HS reunion and the doorman said "don't go upstairs, there is a reunion going on for a bunch of old people" I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. My dh who is 13 years younger also refused to go hang out with a bunch of "old folks." BTW, I had a great time hanging out with my peeps for a change.

This. It really bugs me when people tell me I look much younger like I'm supposed to be so happy to hear that. It is patronizing. I am fine with my age. I wasn't trying to look younger or hoping that you thought i was. If I look nice to you, great. I don't need fake compliments.

I'm 41, Asian, and maybe look a couple years younger but you wouldn't be shocked by my age. Used to look younger but the kids did me in. I think being petite makes people assume one is younger.
