Husband is being "recruited" to join the Masons

It is true that Catholics cannot join, because it is an anti-Catholic institution.

I grew up Catholic and now I am an anti-Catholic household. Maybe OP would ban her DH from working or being friends with me. Really, the Catholic Church was built on lies, scandal, stealing, whore houses, and so on. If you are going to scandalize the Masons you need to be fair and look at the history of the Catholic Church. Inquisition? Crusades? Gays? Abortion?

Seriously. Glass houses, people.

This is the sort of BS from our bigotted friend. I can even see her bigotted thought process: "OMG, if we're trashing the Masons, then it's imperative to trash the Catholic Church at the same time! What a wasted opportunity! We can't trash one group but not the other! Because every available thread must be used as an outlet for my theory that the Catholic Church was built on whore houses!"

Looks like another post that needs to be added to the collection of her posts. What an ugly person she is....

If anybody needs to check, her post from above is on this thread, 5th or 6th page, at 10/29 @ 7:59. I'm going to take a shower now.

I saw a documentary on the Mason's ....it is called "National Treasure" Very informative.

National Treasure? The Nicolas Cage movie (not documentary)? It was a fairly bad movie, IMHO. I don't know whether it's right or wrong about various aspects of the masons, but because it's a movie, it wasn't meant to be strictly factual.

No, it's a documentary. They changed a few names, but that's it.

Anyway, she says she's jewish in two places that were pointed out above, in 11:00 where (a) she's quoted directly, and (b) linked to another post of hers.

Seriously? I am one of the self-identified Jews who's FIL is a mason. Guess what? My husband was raised Catholic and my MIL is still practicing.

But you're clearly not either the rabid-anti-mason or the rabid-anti-catholic poster. You should be happy you're not either of these sad posters, they don't seem normal.

Read the posts that quote/link to the rabid poster. It's not your posts that are being held up as examples of bigotry.

Hater? Bigot? First of all, I grew up Catholic and as a grown up chose of my own free will not to continue to be Catholic. I am a converted Jew. Get over yourselves. Bigot, really?

Second of all, that WAS NOT my response.

Disagreeing with the Catholic Church DOES NOT make me a bigot or a hater, in fact, you calling me those names makes you filled with hate.

Then you are likely the poster at 8:23 here, who identifies herself as a jew, calls catholicism a "cultish religion" and mocks communion turning wine into blood: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/192971.page .

You are a hater, and a pretty disgusting person.

Signed,
A protestant.

You may be referring to me, but I am not going back through 9 pages to check. I can assure you that I have never been to the thread you just posted a link to. So..... Nope. Not me. Never mocked communion. Communion isn't a solely Catholic rite. Most Christian religions offer up communion, as they do a sip of wine.

Um, no. That is a Fictional Movie, not a documentary on the History or Discovery Channel.

You guys are calling the Masons "cultish" and "ICKY", but then mocking the information put forth. How mature of you. And the Catholic poster is a bigot and rabid... No, not any of you!

National Treasure won Best Documentary at the Academy Awards, so how are you saying it is not a documentary? It is based on a pulitizer winning non-fiction piece. Amazing denial.

I can back up the information I posted on the Catholic Church. It's all history. Christmas is bases on a pagan Roman Holiday. Sunday is based on the Sun god's holiday & Constantine trying to woo his people to Catholicism by keeping something familiar to them.

Correct me if I am wrong: was it not a Roman Emperor that sentenced Christ to death on Calvary?

Why did Martin Luther write the 95 Theses sparking the German Reformation? He took issue with the Church. Many Christian religions exist because they took issue with the great Roman Catholic Church.

Pilgrimages? Crusades to the Holy Land against the Muslims?

http://www.av1611.org/jmelton/Catholic.html - to counter the link that the Masons are "cultish & icky" People can say the same of the Church. This IS NOT my opinion, but it out there on the internet, just at the crap on the Masons is.

And lastly, sexual abuse... hello. I have never heard of a Mason sexual molesting a young boy. I have heard of a Catholic Priest molesting young boys over the years. It seems to be a problem within the Church.

Again, I grew up Catholic, I went to Catholic school, I know the Catholic religion, I am a converted Jew. It is my choice to disagree with the beliefs of the Church, just as it is your choice to disagree with the Mason. It is my right to defend my beliefs. My opposite opinions of the Church do not make me a bigot, or a "rabid" Catholic hater. My family is Catholic. I love & respect them & their religion. I am posting here why I do not agree with the Church. It is my opinion which I am entitled to. I can refute what you say, just as you can refute what I say. I am not calling you a bigot.

I do think you are funny for calling the Masons "icky" and "yucky".

Every available thread? Sorry, my friend. I've only posted in this thread. There must be more than one person who does not think the Catholic Church is as supreme as you do.

btw - My own father was a stone mason.

Anonymous wrote:So OP, is your husband doing this despite your obvious misgivings? Are you still talking about it?

To the others, is there a way to know if someone is a mason? I don't think I know any, but you never know! There are a few creepy men I work with that I'd be TOTALLY unsurprised to learn were masons, just based on the fact that I could see them eating a live chicken's head, etc.

Most Free Masons have this symbol on the back of their vehicle, which also happens to be on the dollar bill. Again, several of the Founding Fathers of this country were Free Masons. Hello! George Washington & Benjamin Franklin. You may want to read this as the base stones of the Washington Monument are masonic stones, laid by Free Masons, the architecture all around DC have Masonic meaning, as does the dollar bill. This isn't just in the US, it's all around the world. http://watch.pair.com/mason.html#fathers

On any given day you can find a program on the history channel discussing the Masons and their contribution to the United States in both architecture and politics.

Here is a list of rather famous free masons - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Freemasons - take a really long look at that list and tell me all of these men are "ewww" and "creepy". Really? Burl Ives? Oscar Wilde? John Phillip Sousa? Theodore & Franklin Roosevelt? Paul Revere? Scottie Pippen? Prince Phillip (Queen Elizabeth's Husband)? Yes, they all are Icky, Icky men. And really, their wives are all too controlling to let them join! Presidents, dignitaries, celebrities, authors, politicians... The Masons are not too "Yuck" or "Icky" for these men, but too "Ewww" and "Icky" for your lowly CPA husband.

Show on discovery channel - http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=1.14951.30553.31418.1

OP, you sound like you are close minded, lack being worldly, and just want to control what your DH does. I can counter every stupid bit of misinformation you find out there posted on the internet, and just because it's out there does not make it so. The links I posted, they are fact. Those men were all masons, the architecture, all known fact.

and for the cars - you can order a MASONIC license plate for goodness sake!

Um, so. Your father was a stone mason. What does that mean? That has absolutely NOTHING to do with being a Free Mason. My father is a doctor. Cool! We now know what our father's professions are. Are you Portuguese by any chance? I know lots of Portuguese stone masons.
