Too early to talk about Tuesday weather

Currently, the forums of MCPS, FCPS and DCPS are all full of weenies who desperately want schools to delay tomorrow. Which they probably won't do, and most certainly will not do in the case of DCPS.

We go through this every year. First snowflake brings out the weenies.

Then in March, when a real snowstorm arrives, the threads are full of the same ex-weenies who clamor to keep schools open and who are OK with kids risking life and limb to trudge to school on icy sidewalks.

They're just so stupid.

Because this storm, like most storms, will stay to the west then the north of DC.
Also, DC doesn't have long school bus routes in the rurality, where lack of plowing and skidding off the road is a very real danger.
DC streets, due to the urban hotspot phenomenon, keep warmer for longer, so the point where they get slick isn't going to be reached tomorrow.
And even in the rare instances when we have snowstorms that bullseye the district, schools try to stay open as much as possible because a larger proportion of DCPS kids depend on their free meals than MCPS or FCPS kids.

Thanks for explaining! I am a dcps parent so my kids will be pretty bummed out to hear that but maybe next time!

If there's a 2 hour delay, will MCP$ force down-county beforecare providers to open two hours late as well, like last year, or will they be allowed to make their own choices like in the years before that?

It depends on the severity of the weather. I hope they will let people decide if there's a delay, since tomorrow will be a nothing burger anyway.

The majority of MoCo residents cluster in the downcounty.

And yet...upcounty residents also exist! And many staff commute from Frederick.
