Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| The idea that schools need to close because there might be a road somewhere in the county with any amount of snow or ice is completely irrational. Besides the fact that it is perfectly possible to drive on such roads, it is also fine if a small number of people truly can't make it in. That's already something we have to live with due to causes unrelated to weather. |
The problem is the bus drivers have little experience/training with icy conditions, so it makes it dangerous if even a few routes are ucy. |
| 2 hour delay was just posted: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/ |
| Chances of a full day closure? |
| I’m so annoyed they canceled before school care. Delay it by two hours; don’t cancel it… |
| It’s the right decision |
| So happy that my high schooler can sleep in for once |
Staff might be on their way to other jobs, college classes etc. |
At the same time they’re being paid by McPS parents to provide before care? |
Huh? This doesn’t make sense. |
Pay them more so they don’t need to have a second job then. |
Morning care employees do not work for MCPS. They work for private companies and are only scheduled for like two hours a day meaning they need to have other jobs to survive. If you would like to pay them enough to survive on those two hours then go ahead |
DP. They don't work for MCPS. If enough employees are unavailable then the provider can cancel, but there's no reason for MCPS to decide that for the provider. |
🤦♀️ of course. I probably shouldn’t be responding on dcum before I drink my coffee. |
He's not going to miss an opportunity to screw over parents. We know that from last year. |
